View Full Version : Dining at AKL
Hi all
I fancy booking a meal at AKL for the evening we are at AK.
I know there are two restaurants (Boma & Jiko) the question is do these both only serve 'african' style food or will they have normal food that DD may eat?
Also what are the differences between the two?
Many thanks
David
You might be able to find some info from the "Restaurant Reviews" here on the Dibb. The button is about 3-4 inches down from the top of this page.
PS. It think Jiko must be expensive as it uses 2 credits on the Disney Dining Plan!

Boma has plenty to choose from and as its a buffet if u don't like it leave it and get something else and try it, Jiko is not like that u order from menu and if u don't like it well them you are hungry, Boma is good my kids loved it:)

Boma is great, it is a buffet, there are african style foods, but ther is also some simplier food hidden in there, such as rib of beef. There is such a wide chpice there is usually something there for the picky eaters. If you try it dio try the soups. They alsohave good desserts.
Jiko is table service and has an african flavour as well, it is not overly spicely, but not totally plain. You can look at the menu's at www.allearsnet.com look underdiing and all menus are listed there.
We've had many great meals at both. Click on the links below for some of my reviews.
Will elaborate more in the morning if you'd like to know some more details of either:)

BOMA have a section specifically for kids - including mac'n'cheese, chicken strips - and lots of excellent food for adults too, both African flavoured and more traditional (but most are spiced)
Zebra Dome Cakes are a brilliant Dessert!
We love both places, but on balance BOMA is better for a family

we stayed at AKL and never had to book, the only day it was really busy was Thanks giving. Boma is a must, Jiko's looked ok but was very expensive and my little one didn't like the food on the menu, Boma is excellent for all.

Boma would be your best choice for family dining. The servers there were great with kids and it is a very relaxed atmosphere.
