The ride has a random sequence of drops, you may get a few small drops or one big one
The ride has no harness just a lap belt, but there are handles either side you can hold on to.

Hi Jeremy,
The drops vary each time. The seats are in rows of 4/5 with a lap bar. Except the centre back which has a lap belt.
Don’t worry you will love it its brilliant.

The first we went they did have a lap bar, but last year they were gone and only had lap belts.
I hate this ride but it seems to draw you in and I ride it everytime screaming all the time. It is a fantastic ride !!
The drops as said are now random, nobody knows. I have heard that if you ride it at midnight there is a full height drop!
Have a go.

There are no lap bars now!

I stand corrected on the lap bar I `haven’t been since 03, but you will love it!:tounge:
There is no longer anything holding you in your seat, except for the centre back one. You can hold a seat handle thing, but you will come out of it!!
I hated this ride when it was a single big drop, but love it now its random.
The theming is fantastic and you must give it a go!

I hate it - it scared the crap out of me, purely for the fact that my bum actually came out of my seat on the drop!!! At least I can say I have tried it although I would never ride it again. I LOVE most roller coasters though!
I love this ride, you've got to try it! last time we rode in the front row, I put my bag on the floor, went to pick it up at the end - it had 'moved' 3 seats over to the left :D :D

I,m surprized that there,s No harness on this ride, I might try it,after all I,ve tried Rock and Roll coaster, and screamed all the way through it. I wear glasses would you suggest that I take them off if I ride the tower?.

your glasses will be fine, I wear them & they stayed put ( just the rest of me didn't :D )

There IS a lapbelt to hold you in your seat, and they take great care to ensure that they are all fastened correctly. There are NO handles at the side of each seat (except your neighbour's knees!). They no longer fill the 'suicide seat' in the middle of the back row.

I am sorry to give duff information if that is the case now, but that was the way it was in September last year:confused2 I am not so old that my memory fails me from 5 months ago. I clearly remember trying to grab the "seat separator" metal bars as I shot up in the air and grabbing the leg of the stranger next to me:o:

So glad I tried it, definately a must do even though I only have done it once !! I laugh every time I look at the photo of me on it with my mother, it was when they did the full drop and our hair is literally standing on end and our mouths touching the floor :d:
So is the full drop only at midnight now? I have not been on since 1995 (first time in Florida) and was terrified. I hated the big drop. Is it a series of smaller ones now? Maybe I could cope with that.

The sequence is now random, there are several sequences pre programmed and they can happen at anytime

I,m surprised that is nothing to hold to,so there,s No bar or seat belt to hold you in?.
What,s the suicide seat?.

at the side of each seat there is a small bar you can hold onto. You have the lap seat belt to hold you in.
The Suicide seat is the seat at the very back middle, not really any different to the other seats now, it used to be called the suicide seat as it only had a lap belt where as all the other seats had a lap bar, but now they all have lap belts.
The lap belt is a seat belt and holds you in quite tightly.
The 'suicide seat' was the nickname given to the middle seat on the back row which faces the walkway. In the original ride this seat had a lap belt and all the others had a bar which came across the front of the row of seats. They no longer seat people in this seat now. And the bar has been replaced by individual lap belts

On certain nights of the week the parks have Extra Magic Hours when they stay open for up to three hours after official closing time for resort guests.
Steered clear of Tower of Terror this time, but got my bits done on the Mummy this time!!!!!! Is there no escape from this torture?!

I think I must have been there on a bad day, because I have to say that this ride didn't really scare me at all. "Shoot-and-drop" rides are at their most frightening when you are facing outward and you know that it is only the harness that is preventing you from falling forward out of your seat. Dr Doom's Fearfall at IoA comes into this category - now there is a ride that scares me witless.
But at ToT the seats are in rows, so unless you are in the front row there is always a seat in front of you - so you don't get the same feeling of insecurity.
lefthanded
I'm in a Sunshine State of mind.
Id like to add that this ride is infanitely more scary if you hang onto the JC handles either side. It is best to let go and let the ride lift you a little. If you hang on it seems to make the fear worse.
I just love it:D

The whole family loves this ride but I always tell DH off!!!!!!!! As we go to collect our photo we are all there with our hands in the air and DH is just sitting there.
He always says that he is holding onto the camera BUT now I know what he is really doing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does it move from side 2 side? What's it like for young kids my son is the right size but a bit of a wimp.;)
No side to side movement as such, just when it's moving into position for the drops - think Small World kind of movement and speed.....
