View Full Version : Question for anybody who has been to Spooktacular at Seaworld
Although we have got a full day at Seaworld pencilled into our itinerary it turns out not to be a Spooktacular day. With everything else we have planned the only way we can manage to fit it in is if we drop DD and her fiance off at the airport at lunchtime to check in for their flight home and then go to Seaworld. It is open until 10pm that day but I was wondering how busy Seaworld actually gets on the days that Spooktacular is on?....will we have any problems getting in?
Thanks
You should not have any problems getting in, however the Spooktacular days are always phenomenally busy! it will be packed and it will take forever to get around the park.
If you plan on seeing any of the shows you really will have to be there at least 20 minutes before the start time if you want to even get in to the stadium.
Just to put it in perspective, on an averagely busy day at Seaworld there will be around 15,000 people in the park. During Spooktacular last year attendance peaked at 31,000 people per day.
I arrived about 2pm in October '05.
It was busy, but only in the halloween related areas and shows.
We arrived 5 mins before Shamu show and got where /we/ wanted to be but not where most would =) We were on row 4. In the splash zone, and splashed we got.
Most kids are going from station to station getting candy.
Candy was very low compared to Disney standards - 2-3 boiled sweets. Perhaps because I was 33 and not 3? Who knows =)

Thanks both of you.......We really want to see the special Shamu Show and DS and myself MUST ride Kraken in the dark:spin: . We'll just try and fit in as many of the other special events as we can we can do the 'normal' Seaworld stuff on our other visit.:)

We were also there on a Sat in Oct 2005 - we arrived at 1 pm, and the park was exceptionally busy. We were making our way to the shamu show around 3 pm, when 30 minuts before the show was due to start they announced the stadium was full! We stood in line for about 30 minutes and got in to see the last daytime show (first time ever staning in line for this show) but got in to see the nightime show no problems.
There seemed to be lots to do for the kids, ours was 13 so not too interested in the halloween stuff.
Kraken was 30 to 45 minutes wait. We still have to do this in the dark also.

There were some fireworks after the shamu nightime show - we left well before the park closed so don't know about then - forgot to mention it was also Columbus Day weekend - big American holiday.

We went there about 5pm the year we were there for Hallowe'en. We had no problems getting in to see the shows and although it was busy - it wasn't unmanageable :)

We went on a Saturday afternoon in October 2004 and it was fairly quiet. Queued for about 30mins for Atlantis at about 3pm but Kraken was a walk on in the evening. The shark tunnel and penguin encounter were pretty empty. We didn't do any of the shows though - not my scene really.
Like I said 31,000 was peak period for Spooktacular last year, it may very well not be busy at all when you go, there are some days when the place feels like it is practically deserted!
As Georgemac says, there are a few fireworks at the end of the Halloween Shamu show, which are part of the show, But no, unfortunately there are no other fireworks after those.
Make sure y'all come on up to the control booth after and say HI!! :wavey:
(I know that sounded American, but I'm not..... REALLY!!)
