View Full Version : Help! Which Water Park?
Every year we try to add something different to our floriday holiday. This year it is a water park. Me and DD (9) swim like fish and both love water. DS (6) and DH (nearly over the hill) can swim a little, are not very confident, like splashing around in water, but can take it or leave it.
Does anyone have any recommendations on which waterpark would suit us all? Also, which is the best ticket for just a one day visit, as we already have our unexpired disney passes from last year which don't include waterparks.

both parks are fab and both have a kiddies areas for those who don't want to go in deep water or who dont swim very well. Also both have great sandy sunbathing areas. It might prove expensive to pay at the gate though for just one day! I would recommend you check out the weather forecast before you go because if it gets stormy you could be asked to leave the park early!

well me and my DS are not great in the water but like paddling about and we have to stay in the shallow end but DH and DD could swim all day so i know where you are coming from. i suppose it depends on if you want to do a lot of rides, personally i would recommend typhoon lagoon for all of you as the wave machine is great and even if you are not a great swimmer it doesn't matter as your DH and DS don't have to go in very far to get the effect and i think typhoon lagoon has great theming:)

TL is my favourite. I think Blizzard Beach is too ride orientated and more 'concrete'.
Both have their merits IMHO. We generally prefer BB as we love Teamboat Springs (family raft ride) and are occasionally foolish enough to want to throw ourselves down Summit Plummet. Downhill Dippers and the inside tube slides are all great fun (schlepping the tubes up all those steps is not!)
Personally, I think TL is a lot quieter with less adventurous slides etc although the addition of Crush 'n' Gusher tempted us back there last year and we really enjoyed it.
Stick to the Disney ones either way, we tried Wet and Wild once, has some great rides but all steel and concrete, no theming and we did some stuff and left fairly early, won't bother again.

We loved Wet and Wild, you have lazy river, loads of different rides for all ages and the wave machine which you can just sit at the edge if your not to confident at swimming plus there's lots of loungers to relax on.
Typhoon lagoon for us, though we do like Blizzard beach as well.
You can swim with sharks at TL as well. That puts swimming with dolphins at DC into perspective :d:
We did Typhoon Lagoon last year. Trying Blizzard Beach this year. What about Wet n Wild?
blizzard beach is great this is my favourite.
typhoon lagoon is also good

We love both parks, but at Typhoon Lagoon there is an area, as mentioned by Hal, called Shark Reef where you can snorkel among tropical fish and nurse sharks.
Typhoon Lagoon for me everytime.... it has everything.... the rides (the new crush'n'gusher is superb)... the massive wave pool (great fun)... plenty of stuff for nippers.... the shark reef... and also the theming is very very relaxing.
I must also mention `River Country'... R.I.P.. I love that hollerin' ol' water hole...

As i said earlier, we always go to Typhoon Lagoon, my DH does not swim, he can manage a width of the pool but won't get his face wet etc. :omg: He actually loves going to Typhoon Lagoon, he can go on the relaxing rings [ grandson speak-welaxing wings ] and chill, he will take the kids on the smaller rides. I then take the kids into the wave pool and other slides etc, so it suits us all. Then when we want to just sit and chill we can[ yes it's usually DH that can be heard snoring loudly ] :( . The kids can wander around within eyesight and grandson into the shallow water by himself - we have a point he is not allowed beyond , because if he was to go past it- one way or another he would be seriously injured;) Yes, this one suits us all.
