I've just booked a villa for our second week next August. Has anyone got any info on Fort Myers? (this where we've booked the villa) Wellington Lakes Development to be precise. We've been to Sanibel Island before but not Fort Myers.
Any info would be great!

Hi Natalie,
We've been to Fort Myers & Sanibel loads of times and have just bought a 2 week timeshare on Fort Myers Beach.
Haven't heard of the development you have booked on but we have a F.M. map if you have a full address.
There is a park & ride system for the beach which is well sign-posted.
If you fancy a bit of sight-seeing the Edison & Ford homes are worth a visit.
Pink Shell Resort at the top end of Estero Key has a Marina which rents out boats & does fishing, sightseeing & shelling trips.
The Flea Market at Weekends is worth a look if you like bargain hunting.
Main shopping is at Sunshine Mall-very nice.
Loads of good places to eat at the beach and all along the main drag thru F.M. S.R.41
24 hour Walmart, nice Target,
Loads of other shopping.
Fishing & Casino Boats go out from the "bridge"
Excellent premium outlet mall on interstate just south of F.M.
Anything else just give me a shout.
Regards,
Carol .

Hi again Natalie,
Can't find any Wellington but zip code 33908 is SW Fort Myers.
Most of this area is completely undeveloped still but there are 2 residential areas. 1 is west of SR41 & South of FM proper. Hopefully you are not there as it is a long way from the beaches.
The other 1 is near SR865 which is just before you reach the bridge over to FM Beach.
That 1 is near to lots of shops, supermarkets, restaurants etc. and is a Tourist Area. If they'll give you a street name I can find it for you.
Regards,
Carol

Natalie,
I came across your posting but I have no idea how long ago you sent your message.
Anyhow, I have been offered a rental home in an area known as Wellington by Summerlin Road/Winkler Road. Is this the location you were enquirying about?
I shall be spending the month of June 2004 out there so I shall need something more than surf and sand to keep me occupied.
Have you been yet and if so, was it good round there?
Is a car an essential in Fort Myers?
Where I have stayed before, round Kissimmee area, a car is a basic necessity.
Any help or advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated and I thank you for taking the time to read this massive missive.

Simon

Hi Simon,
Yes, it was the same area that I was enquiring about and yes we did go last August for a week. It was a good distance from the beaches, you couldn't have walked it and you will definately need a car. It was a lovely quiet relaxing week we tended to sit around the pool in the mornings and then go out in the afternoons. The Wellington development was really nice and quiet and was a proper American community. We really enjoyed it but after Orlando found it just a bit too quiet for our liking. We had stayed on Sanibel previously and thought it was great there.
Just at the top of the road is a large Publix, Walgreens (didn't sell booze though, the one in Lake Buena Vista does) Hallmark card shop, Off Licence, Ruby Tuesdays, Chinese Take Away and a Blockbuster video rental. There is a Wal Mart but that is a drive away. Overall, it was lovely for a chilling out week but if you like action it was very, very quiet.
The Villas on Wellington are lovely.
If you have any other questions let me know
Hope this helps a bit
Natalie
