OK

other alternative to crowne plaza is carribean beach resort on site. Although more expensive ( by £500 for the 2 weeks).

What are the prices like to eat onsite hotels compared to I drive. Also can you use facilities at the different hotels or do you have to stick to your own resort hotel

I am not going to be driving, what do you think i should look at oonsite for more money or off site for less but with transfers ect!

So many questions such little time

Hi, if you are not driving then I would say stay on site. We have never driven in Orlando and manage fine staying on site and just taxiing to Seaworld / Universal. Ian

No probs Tanya. Take a look at www.mearstransportation.com for taxi prices click on "estimate fare." As for food prices they vary from $5 to $7 each for lunch at the parks to $20+ for dinner at a resort or Epcot restaurant. Other Dibbers might have other views but we always eat onsite for the whole holiday. Take a look at www.allearsnet.com they have menus and prices. Ian

We stayed on I drive the first few times we went to Florida, but after our first stay on site I don't think we would stay any where else.

There are hotels and places to eat for all tastes and pockets. You can use the restaurants at any of the other hotels, but you can't use swimming pools, unless you are staying at POFQ or POR.

The few of the other perks of staying on site are no parking charges, I think that is $10 per day. The transport system between your hotel, parks, other hotels and DTD. The extra magic hours, morning and nights.

Hi Tanya, how about half the time on I drive, the rest on site ? we found this worked well, we had a good choice of restaurants on I drive, & convenience of being on site. :)

We always end up staying on site. The vast majority of our holiday is doing Disney parks, so being on I-Drive and closer to Universal etc is no benefit.

The food inside Disney is dearer than off-World, no question. But, for us, the convenience of being so close to your room for a break in the day, the constant Disney magic, the morning and evening EMHs all make up for this. And the cost of food is small compared to the cost of the whole holiday.

A very personal choice, and it wouldn't be the right one for everyone. But it works for us. Enjoy whichever way you go.

I would suggest you split your stay with some time offsite and the rest onsite. That will give you the best of both worlds and save a bit of money over staying onsite for the whole time. Plan your itinerary to do Disney parks when you are staying there.
You are free to visit any resort and you can use the shops and restaurants but not the pools. Food is more expensive onsite, but still good value compared to what you would pay at home and there are so many excellent restaurants in WDW, you would never run out of choices.
Disney transport is very convenient and the EMH are an added bonus for onsite guests.

We do both - we go for 4 rr 5 weeks and spend a week off site (I drive or 192) and the rest on site. (We have DVC at Beach Club). Eating on site is VERY expensive compared to off site. 192 is cheaper than I Drive. We always have a car so we can eat off site even when we're staying on site. Also it is much quicker to use your car to get to places on site than Disney transport which is slow and erratic to say the least!
