ok folks, i'm wanting to pick your brains again, we are thinking of bahama bay next year, we have had villas before and love them is bahama bay on par with a villa with the only difference being you've no pool? how does it compare?

Hi,

We have stayed in both (we have our own villa now) and it really depends on how much space you want. The Bahama Bay condos are lovely but obviously not as spacious as a villa. Personally I prefer having a pool all to myself, but the condos have other pros such as the onsite restaurant and bar etc. If you would like any further info on Bahama Bay please feel free to pm me.

I think once you have stayed in a villa there is no comparison but it is down to individual choice I guess. We stayed in lots of hotels before we bought and I love the privacy the villa gives as my main problem with hotels was, I hate inconsiderate people and hotels are full of them moring, noon and night!

I am also with Michelle, having your own pool is a major bous.

We have booked BB as a compromise this year.My teenage children did not want to stay in a villa cos they were stuck withus all the time. This way they can go to the games room, pool etc with others and hopefully we can go to the bar, restaurant without driving.I suppose it depends on your reasons for choosing and who is going with you

I Agree with scobie, weve booked for windsor hills, it has a comunal pool, DD can mix with other kids, we stayed at a villa last year and found it too quiet, DD was with us all the time, didnt see anyone, at least this way there will be other kids she can mix, but thats not to say a villa wont work for you:spin:

Some of the newer villa communities have resort facilities - large swimming pool, hot tub, water slides, tennis, arcade games, playgounds, etc - where you can have the best of both worlds.

Hi
We used to own a villa {removed}.

Size wise a villa and BBcondo will be similar. At BB you will not have your own pool which is one thing I miss about the villa. However there are 4 pools on BB and they very rarely seem to get busy. The kids pool is also really nice and safe and the gym and computer access is handy.

BB has great facilities and a 24 hour reception when things go wrong (which they often do in a villa) we also like the bars and restaurant as it gives you the option of having a quiet drink in the evening.

In terms of facilities BB wins hands down and in terms of complete privacy a villa would win. I think both are great options and you will have a fab time whichever you choose!

Jo not sure about the villas and BB condos being the same size?

i think it depends on the size of the villa.

We had a 3 bedroom villa on Esprit. In terms of living surface area the BB condo is actually larger than in the villa (minus the garage and pool). Obviously a six bedroomed mansion will not compare.

Sorry should have made myself clearer lol!

Jo

What often went wrong in your villa:confused2 ?
Very rarely anything goes wrong in ours.
I think some of the resorts are really nice if you like that sort of touristy thing but for me you can't beat staying amongst the locals on a nice sub division.

Things can go wrong wherever you stay. Guests getting locked out, pool heating not working, floods etc. I just meant to say having someone on site 24 hours is handy.

Please don't take my reply wrongly. I loved our villa and was gutted when my family decided to sell it, however they chose to buy on BB and now I love that (I am also not doing a sales pitch as we don't rent it out).

Both options are great but I will say that BB isn't really mega touristy, it is very quiet and nice.

I don't think I will post again on this thread as I feel my comments were taken personally by some and it was not my intention to offend anyone.

Lets face it Florida is an amazing place wherever you stay.

We have stayed at both BB and Villas and love them both - my personal opinion is I like BB more because there are better on site facilities for my two children - they can go to the Gym, cinema, games room, tennis, volley ball or just swimming if they like and they are at an age now that they can do this on their own which gives them a little bit of freedom. When you are staying in a villa (which is very nice too) apart from your own pool (which is lovely) there is limited things for the kids to do unless they go to the nearest tennis court or basket ball court which is usually a bit of a trek on a villa site - but I must stress again they are both great.:wavey: :wavey:

I can confirm what Joey is saying - BBR is very quiet and relaxing, not at all touristy.

But isn't that what you are? As we all are. a tourist :confused2

Places like Bahama Bay and Cypress Pointe have all the comforts a villa(other than own pool and garage) has to offer plus the added convenience of resort amenities.

We enjoyed our stay in a villa, but felt a bit isolated.

Agree with brindle, a resort gives the teenagers a bit of freedom and all of us a bit of space. :D

Not all tourists want to spend all their holidays mingling with other tourists. Sometimes its nice to get away from our fellow Brits:d: :d:
Give me a house to stop in anyday.

For anyone who wants the best of both worlds somewhere like Windsor Hills has lovely villas with their own pools plus the communal pool and other facilities of a resort. We were considering it this year instead of BBR because it is much closer to Disney but in the end decided to go with what we knew was good plus the advantage of having a restaurant on site which Windsor Hills doesn't have:)
