We've been 3 times, but never managed to get to a beach yet.
This years trip will only have a 7day Disney tickets and the obligatory Seaworld, so we should have a couple of days free when you take off the days a malls:nonono:
Should we head over to Daytona or head towards Clearwater and which would you recommend?

Clearwater! Check out www.seascreamer.com - and there are loads of other boat trips to do. Fab seafood, fab beach, water that is knee deep way way out, warm as a bath - wish I was there now!!!:(

We've had a day in Daytona and apart from the novelty of driving the car onto the beach we didn't really rate it.

St Pete's beach was lovely and we're headed back there this year.

We go to Anna Maria Beach, its just south of St Petes, and its beautiful. Can't say I have ever seen sharks there, only soft white sands and warm blue seas.

we always visit Cocoa beach from Orlando because it is much quicker and easier to get to. Plenty of facilities and of course Ron Jon's Surf shop.

Glad someone asked this as I was just about to! We will not be driving over there so would it be easier for us to book a day trip to the beach with our travel agent? Our DD really wants to visit the beach for a day, anyone experienced one of the day trips on offer?

we have been told that siesta key http://www.simplysiestakey.com/ is beautiful so we are going to drive down as we have never been there and now with our gps we should find it easier (hopefully):thumbs-up

Has to be the Guld Coast beaches, we like Naples and Fort myers way buit it is too long for a day trip. Another nearer and fun place is Treasure Island.

Daytona was ok and it is the novelty of being able to drive onto the beach but it is nowt special and I think Daytona is a boys town!

We like St Pete's Beach area best - just because it is less busy than Clearwater (which has much better sand but is a bit built up now for our liking). We have been to Naples which was OK - we went in August and the area was suffering from red tide. Also, there were masses of sharks on the move. So many that they were on the news! We were next to a party of Brits who had hired a boat from Naples marina. They were going fishing but got a bit spooked because their boat was being circled by lemon sharks! Not sure when you are going but a message to all going in August - don't forget to do the "stingray shuffle". You have to kind of do the twist with your feet as you go into the water just in case there is a stingray resting in the sand! Needless to say - I sent the kids in first!

We always go to St. Pete`s for the day. We go to the beach for a while and then go to the pier. You can check out the pier here www.stpete-pier.com
