We are visiting Orlando for 3 weeks in Aug so at the moment I am getting ideas from everyone as to where they want to go. My Dad would really like to visit a Native American village. I have checked out Miccosukeetours.com and this looked quite good although, quite a distance from I- Drive where we are staying. I did a forum search and unfortunately it wasn't rated very highly. Are there others that could be recommended- if so can you give me a rough indication of distance.
Thanks:)

Don't really think that there are any outside museums and theme parks. The Americans have moved on a bit since then.
There are a few trailer parks which could be a little bit educational:smile:

Hi Caroline
There are a couple of Native American villages in southern part of Florida one near Fort Lauderdale which is a Seminole village but doesnt get much of a write up and maybe not worth travelling 2-3 hours. The other is the Miccosukee village just south of Naples along the SR41 about 3-4 hrs from Orlando. We visited on our way up from the Keys a couple of years ago its quite interesting if you happen to be in that area but not really worth the effort otherwise.
Hope that helps

Friends of ours went 2 years ago, and after enquiring about it at the hotel, drove for quite a while - but on stopping to ask for directions - apparently quite close to the reservation - they were told it was pointless going as they wouldn't be allowed in with their children - Florida gambling laws don't apply inside reservations, and a large part of it had been given over to a casino, with no kids allowed!!! I don't know if this is 100% accurate, but just in case you are travelling with kids, please check it out, and you might save yourself a wasted journey:(
