Which day to go to Miami?

Hi, whilst we are in Florida, we are planning on doing an overnight stay in Miami. We would like to be there on a Friday or Saturday night as I believe the weekend is better for the nightlife but I was wondering if the traffic is much worse on a weekend and if so would it be better to go through the week?

Miami is always busy, just like any other big city, even on the weekends, especially around the tourist and club areas.
I personally prefer to stay in Fort Lauderdale.

Its a long boring journey there and back, there is plenty to see around Miami if you can make it a bit longer.

I would recommend a couple of nights as it is a long way to go for just the one night and I would head for South Beach as it is what you would say ....kicking but in a nice way!
