Hi, this is one for you dibbers who have visited/stayed in the Anna Maria/Longboat Key area. We are spending our holiday this time in this area and will have a disabled person with us. I was wondering if any of you could recommend a beach with easy access. My dad uses a wheelchair as his walking is very limited, however he can manage a few yards with crutches. Also does anybody know which beach it is where you can borrow special beach wheelchairs to get disabled people onto the sand and back again?
Many Thanks:wavey:

We spent a week in Bradenton after 2 weeks in Orlando and visited several beaches in the area. As far as I can remember, most were easy from the road, particularly Coquina Beach at the south tip of Anna Maria Island.
Can't help you with the wheelchairs though.

we stayed on lido key in sarasota and the beach was lovely. There was plenty of parking just of the beach itself. Literally out your car and onto the sand.
