dbf was wondering whether you can buy PS2 games in orlando and use them in UK PS2s? I know you can't do this with DVDs etc.. but wasn't sure about games console games... anyone know?

DBF's PS2 isn't chipped, if this makes a difference, but there is the possibility of getting it done if that's what's necessary...

That's what you'd need to do.....either chipped or a Swap Card/Boot Disk arrangement. The games won't play in a standard UK machine.

We made this mistake, bought Shrek 2 in Walmart for the PS2 for DS1 and then found out it wouldn't work in the UK!!! something to do with our PAL system here in the UK which is not the system used in the states ( dont understand this tech stuff!) So as GerryH says you will need to get the PS chipped for them to work!

If your PS2 is under warranty, getting it chipped may invalidate the warranty.

dont go for a swap magic card, if he really want to play imports the easiest way is to get the machine chipped, should cost no more than £40

PSP games work over here as do DS and Gameboy Advance. DVDs will work if you have a multi regional DVD player or the facility to make your one (usually a code to input). We alwys buy lots as they are much cheaper in the US

Does anyone know anywhere in Manchester that will chip PS2's as my DS was planning on buying a couple of games when we are away.
