I'm back on the boards after our wedding, and a beautiful honeymoon in Morocco. Some of you may know that we asked our guests for holiday vouchers as wedding gifts. Well, they were very kind, and we have around about £2500 (mainly Thomas Cook vouchers, but some cash/cheques) for our trip. So, we have enough to stay at a moderate resort, and I wondered what your suggestions were. Where would you stay?
We have talked about adding to the money we received, but we think we're unlikely to be able to do that, as we're going to need plenty of spending money.
Ooh, forgot to say, we're hoping to go in November, this year :)
Hi Congratulations and welcome home. I can recommend the Dolphin, its a beautiful hotel and about the same price as a moderate. You get to use EMH inthe parks and Disney transport, and your right on the doorstep for the Boardwalk and Epcot. Absolutely fabulous hotel. Ian
Just a thought, but if you could bring your holiday forward to October, you could include MNSSHP and the Food and Drink Festival in your plans.

Hey Claire :D
Well, you know we're staying at POFQ and we chose it because it is a nice size (smaller than other moderates) and the setting is just so pretty :D

at that quiet time of year in november you should be able to get Animal Kingdom Lodge with that budget. Go the week before thanksgiving and the parks are very quiet, no q`s anywhere and DAKL is just the most amazing place you will love it.

According to the brochure, we can't get AKL, which was my fantasy (I never thought we'd get as much as we did - thought we'd be at Pop Century if we made it at all!), and we're tied to Thomas Cook because of the vouchers.... :confused2
Also, we want to go for Thanksgiving, as the time has been recommended by some friends who've been a lot. Apparently the parks turn into Christmas overnight? We'd love to see that. I know this will make it busier - think we'll stay in our room for Thanksgiving itself! :d:

My fav moderate is POFQ. It is the smallesrt of all the resorts, so it is quieter and more romatic, it is also only 5 mins to the facilitities and parking is never far from the room. It is also a very attractive resort.
The ride to DTD on the boat is nice, the food court is good. The oinly thing is the lack of a table service resturant, but it is easy to get to them at other places, so for us that was not an issue.
Another vote for POFQ - it is so pretty and the boatride to DTD is a definite plus :thumbs-up ... but just to confuse things I also love Coronado Springs. It's a lot larger but equally pretty, and the facilities (including the bus transportation) are very good. I used to love Bonfamilles restaurant at POFQ and if that reopened POFQ would be even more perfect. :)

For a romantic second honeymoon, it has to be POFQ, you'll love it there :)))

For newlyweds there can be nowhere more romantic than POFQ, we loved it there (and we are old marrieds with teenagers;) ). It is a lovely, small and pretty riverside resort with a gorgeous pool, chilled jazz bar and riverboat to Downtown. Not forgetting the evening carriage rides along the river. Just beautiful. Info here (http://allearsnet.com/acc/faq_po.htm).
Why not do as we did and follow your stay at POFQ with a couple of nights at AKL? You might find this difficult to arrange as a package, but you could try to upgrade when you arrive.

Thank you everyone for your tips. We had a big discussion last night and have come up with a new plan. We thought it might be better, as we have money as well as vouchers, to book one of the value resorts and the tickets and then use what's left for food, so that any saving we have to do is minimal. Will start a new thread to ask opinions on the dining plan....
