We are not huge eaters and in the Florida sun find the huge meals put in front of you off putting at times, however as we are 4 adults DS 24 and DD 18 we have always ordered 4 meals and struggled through usually leaving half as we always want to try the desserts! :erm: Do you think it would be frowned upon to ask for an extra plate instead of a meal? Or do you think I'm being mean? I just hate to see food wasted, of course I'd tip the same as if we got 4 meals but just wondered if anyone has ever done this? :confused2

We have often shared meals, like you, we'd never make it to dessert otherwise. ;) It has never been a problem, we just tip accordingly as you suggest. Our teenagers have also ordered from the kids menu many times mainly for smaller portions.

The Americans, especially around Orlando, are entirely used to us Brits eating like mice, you won't have a problem.

By the way, my DW quite often orders a child's meal and they don't blink an eyelid, could you imagine doing that over here "I'm sorry madam, those are for children only" Humph.

I never though about ordering off of the kids menu for me, mind you many times last year we never bothered to order for our DS 5, as he never ate much at all. we just asked for a plate and he had bits off of all of us.

Thanks for all the replies, it will make this easier for me now. I'll share if I want to or have a kids meal and save plenty of room for those yummy desserts! ;)

Quite often I have ordered a starter and a pud with no prob! I just ask for the starter to be brought as my 'main meal' with hubbys!

we went with my mum and she often had a childs meal, however the waiter/ress always mentioned if they did the smaller portion sizes (some places do a smaller portion on request) as she doesnt have a very large appetite either.

I've often had two starters, one as my main course. Never been a problem or questioned - they are always happy to supply whatever is requested in my experience.

I often order a childrens meal, or, sometimes just have a starter and a desert. No-one In the U.S has ever made me feel bad doing this...i would not even try over here!

The only places where you wouldn't be allowed to order just 3 meals or kids meals are buffets. But with these type of meals you would only get what you wanted anyway.
