We went in October 2005 and we all thoroughly enjoyed it in fact the kids DS(11) and DD(7) rated it in their top 3 places in Florida! See my trip report for details.

We went in December 2005. The gardens were lovely, the funfair part of the park was good, with quite a lot of rides. We were surprised by how many older people were there. It wasn't as slick as Disney or Universal, but not so busy either. It felt a little quaint, but we had a really nice day. We used our Go Orlando card, which meant that we felt we got good value for money.

We did this on our first Sunday as DS was going to be at Bay Hill for the first week so we didin't want to start our ticket countdown then not use them for 6 days! (He loved it and met loads of the players - even got his book signed by Tiger! - plus his glove, ball and a tee - needless to say he was VERY happy - and I was because I was fed up with carting this heavy book from one competition to another!)

I digess..... CG was pleasant but not thrilling. It will appeal to under teens and over 50's (sorry if that seems un PC!). The pace is very relaxing and even though it was a weekend there were no queues. The water park is at the far end so you could do the rides and the gardens, have lunch and then an afternoon in the wet park. (So take swimmies/towels with you at the begining of the day.)

We enjoyed the drive down - we went the 17/92 and saw some little towns we wouldn't have if we'd have kept to the 27.

The 'fountain girl' was different and the waterski show worth watching.

All in all I would say it's not something you 'have to do' if it's your first or second time but it does make for a relaxing day if you want a break from the bustle of Orlando.
