Does DVC membership include park entrance fees or do you need to buy annual passes?

Here's the old chestnut . The original DVC membership in '91 included passes as part of the incentive but this was never renewed. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I think they were something like 10 years.

Nowadays you get a small disc on some passes.

The passes ran out at the end of 2000.  You only get discounts on length of stay passes and water parks.  It seems a shame they do not give the same basic bennefits of the Disney Club.
