has anyone done an Airboat Ride, my Dad fancies doing this when we go in June. Which is the best place to go and do you have to book in advance?
We went to Boggy Creek in June. We had a really good time. It started raining while we were out - and you get splattered in mud. But it felt really good being away from the parks for a while in the countryside.
Forgot to say - we didn't book or buy tickets in advance. We just arrived and paid, then waited for the next tour.

We always go to the East Lake Fish Camp at Boggy Creek. It is a fabulous experience and well worth a visit. Every time we`ve gone there`s been lots of wildlife to see, including `gators!!

We went to Boggy Creek in Feb and had a half hour ride, just turn up, pay at the building and get on the next available tour. If memory serves me correct, it cost around $35 total for 2 adults and a child. We saw some 5 or 6 rather large Gators, but I'm sure when the weather is warmer there are more, and more active too. Apparently the lake is only about 4 ft deep...even in the middle. It is a great way to relax!!!
Also went to Boggy Creek and can recommend it.

Just had an e-mail from Kissimmee Visitors Bureau with a link to a 'buy one get 2nd half price' offer for Boggy Creek....
http://www.bcairboats.com/wildcard.htm
Now read it properly - it says "buy one half hour airboat tour and receive one Wildlife Safari half price so not so attractive.

Fiona, I dont think BC Airboats are at the East Lake Fishcamp anymore, just at the Southport one. We did the east Lake one last year and it was superb.
A much easier route from Highlands Reserve, avoiding all the traffic and lights on the 192.
Turn right out of HR going south on 27.
Turn left onto CR54 Ronald Reagan Parkway [Walgreens on the corner on opposite side of road]
Follow this road all the way to a T junction [gas station on your right]
Turn left onto Orange Blossom Trail South and follow to 2nd set of lights.
Turn right onto Poinciana Blvd and after a couple of miles you will pick up the signs for Southport Park and Airboat Rides. This route is much quieter and scenic as it takes you through the countryside. Will probably be a lot quicker too. We stay down on the CR54 and use these roads a lot to avoid the traffic on the 192 etc

weve just got back, after 2 hectic weeks in orlando we went across the everglades to the keys for a week.on the way we stopped to do an air boat ride which was brill but the water is only shallow as they have not had mnuch rain so you dont see much, we saw some crocs in deeper water whilst waiting for the ride. the driver made it more interesting by zooming the boat around a lot and it was great. it is noisy though they do sell some foam ear plugs the same as the ones you get on the plane!!it was a great experince and no mossies yet .
