Well, the time is drawing ever closer! I am so excited. Just one question, I am keen to go to KSC, now can I just turn up and get in by buying a ticket at the door, or is it advisable to book?:confused2

Can you also book the extra tours while there, or does it have to be booked in advance?

You can turn up and pay at KSC. Just like anywhere else they have ticket booths as you walk from the car park can sometimes be a bit of a queue when we've been the last couple of times (5-10 mins) but nothing to make us pre book our tickets.

Hi Carl, thanks for the response. We will be driving down from Orlando so didn't want the dissapointment of not being able to get in. Also, does anyone now how long it takes to get there from a Disney Hotel?

Matty,

Have you had a look at the KSC website?

http://www.nasa.gov/centers/kennedy/about/visit/index.html

really useful and tells you about directions etc... should take no more than about 1.5 hours to drive it out there. Really easy route head out past Orlando International Airport and just keep on the road after about 40 miles (ish) you'll see signs for KSC and then about another 15-20 miles on normal two way roads.

It is one of the highlights of our florida holiday going there and we never get bored of it.

Carl :)

We stay on International drive and it usually takes us about 1 hour. We always buy tickets when we get to KSC and there has hardly been any queue.

You can buy tickets from any retailer - it's good to have them in advance. If you get the maximum access passes (just a few quid more) - then you also have access to the Astronaut Hall of Fame which is excellent. KSC itself is a full day with all the attractions - they do have two tours - then and now and nasa close up - but if you haven't been before I would think there would be more than enough for you to do in a day. It takes about an hour to get there.

There is another website here. (http://www.kennedyspacecenter.com/visitKSC/index.asp) We will be booking the Then and Now Tour for this year.

If you're a complete anorak (like me) the "Then & Now" tour is brilliant. Not as "techie" as the other tours, involves visiting the more historical launch site of Gemini & Mercury, as well as the launch complex where the Apollo1 fire took place. Wife didn't enjoy it much 'cos it involved visiting "a lot of concrete rubble" as she so eloquently put it
