Dear All

We LOVE and I mean LOVE Forida.

However, we always find it difficult to avoid the hot dogs, chicken strips and macaroni cheese on the kids menus.

Can anyone recommend a good quality reasonably priced eatery so we can get some veg into the kids whilst we are away?

As always your help is appreciated.

We will be staying in a US27 villa.

Anywhere on the way home from a park would do.

Thanks

PS Yes I know the Villa has a kitchen, but Mum is on holiday too!!

Why don't you try Perkins.

When we were there the kids had broccoli, carrots, corn, green beans and salad.

It's excellent. Their website is Sweet Tomatoes (http://www.soupplantation.com) We couldn't imagine not going to it when in Florida.

Cracker Barrel is excellent, try their fish and chips special on a Friday absolutley delicious, DD had roast pork with Mash and veg and declared it the best pork she had ever tasted, coming from her that is a great complement.

My DS loved the pot roast at Perkins- accompanied by creamed potatoes and veg (they gave him a funny look when he asked if they had any yorkshire puddings).

We are just back from a villa off 27 in clear creek.
These places are on 192 and we ate there frequently either at night or for breakfast.

Golden Corral - have different themed evening meals.(they have a website) the nights i can remember tues is family night, thurs is bbq night and sat is steak night, think fri is fish night and mon could be shrimp night. The do roasts, chicken, veg, salad, potatoes often mash, and u can choose your own as much as u want as often as u want.

Sizzler offer a buffet and u can also purchase an entree - for example steak or chicken to go with your buffet.

Denny's - my fil had the pot roast and enjoyed it but wasnt fond of the gravy had it the next time without the gravy. They also offer steak, chicken and your choice of 2sides which includes mash, fries, corn, as well as the usual sandwiches and burgers.

Perkins menu is very similar to Denny's we only had breakfast here but the evening options looked great.

These locations can be found between marker 4-6 on 192 or there is also a denny's right at the bottom of 192 beside summer bay resort and publix. There is also a denny's on us27 at the I4 junction end.

And the rose and crown pub in epcot(at the british section) offer traditional type meals too.

I agree with the votes for Perkins - the options for rice or mashed potatoes (instead of fries) as well as veggies are great

Golden Corral is my choice. It has loads of veg and meat

I agree Perkins is an option, but maybe it was the Perkins we went tended to use way too much salt.
The veg and meat was fine but the mash and gravy was very heavily salted

Lovely veg at Sweet Tomatoes. Perkins and Cracker barrell are also good but I agree with Sean regarding the salty mash and gravy at Perkins.

If your staying on the 27 then Golden Coral on the 192 west would be ideal - they do loads of veg - broc - lovely sweetcorn - carrots - beans - cauli -
broc n cheese sauce
Plus loads of meats, chickens, fish and shrimp:tounge:

We always stay at Clear Creek or Silver Creek which are off the US27. There is a family restaurant called Randy`s where all the locals go and they do really great food. The mashed potatoes, gravy, beef and veg. are really lovely.

Bob Evans is good, Cracker Barrell has perhaps the widest selection. They have a website, so you can see their menu online and get directions to the nearest one to you.
Also Olive Garden is one of our favourites.
Happy holidays xx

Take them up to Mannys Chop shop on the 27 ,opposite Southern Dunes i think. They have loads of good food with the best salads i've had . Most meals come with veg. and as a bonus they can draw on the table covers. Kids eat free on some nights or during certain times. I'm not sure which or when and can't find a web site.
Its not expensive anyway.
It does get busy and is full of locals but worth a go. There is a Walmart Super Centre opposite aswel so if theres a queue you could do some shopping.

I usually go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast but never tried lunch/dinner there but looking at their menu it does seem to be quite healthy and sounds delicious! :)
