I read briefly on here of Disney v Universal, but am increasing considering both. The other half insists on Disney for the kids (specifially the 40 year old ones lol) but a lot of people I speak to at work who have been to Florida believe Universal may be of more interest.

I've no problem with getting tickets for both. Have others done this? Time being the major factor as there are so many plans and so little time...

Any reason for one over the other (our group has a variety of ages so I figure a choice will be better).

if you have the time, then do both. universal has more of the older generation films like ET, Jaws, Men in Black. disney is just magical, so definately a must

We have always done both, althought there is a lot more to see now than when we first went. There is something in each park for all ages.

The best thing is to do both. Both incredibly different and both offer stunning entertainment. . . . But I prefer Disney.....

I prefer Disney but Universal has some fab rides and you'll have missed out if you don't take a look.

I think it depends on your family circumstances! We have always done both, which was great when we went on our own, pre kids. It is really busy and tiring but well worth it. However, the last time we went (which was the first with kids, aged 1 and 3) doing both was just too much, and the kids never got all from disney that they should've done. We're planning on taking the kids back next year and will just be doing disney.:wavey:

If you can afford it, book 1 night at a Universal hotel and use Front of Line Access. We did this and did everything at US and IOA in two days......the hotel (Portofino Bay) was great too!
US is totally different to Disney.....different but just as good, especially if you are a film fan. Give Twister a miss though....IMHO, it is rubbish!

Thanks all - now I see the quandry. I suppose I am the only movie fan. None of the other party will have seen the movies. My other half still hasn't seen Jaws! Rides are not really a priority. The kids of course know all the Disney movies, so I guess that's settled.

Seems another trip might be necessary!!

I have been several times and always do them all.

Busch Gardens is actually my favourite park which is neither universal or Disney.

Islands of Adventure has some excellent rides .. Spiderman is one and it has the best river rapids ride in Blutos Bilge Rat Barges .. excellent fun, Duelling dragons and the Hulk are excellent.

Men in Black, the Mummy and Shrek are brilliant at Universal..

gee don't think I could go all the way to Florida and miss any of them :)

I agree, I think each park has a different feel and different things in their favour.

If you have time and can afford it do everything (including Busch which I love for the coasters)

They are very different, but Universal is great

If your kids are young then i wouldn't boether with Busch as there is nothing for them to do. My family paid full kids price for my nephew 5 years ago, and he was only able to go on 1 kiddie ride due to the height restrictions. He was only 4, and i think they even tried to say he was too ig for some of the kiddie stuff !!!!

I used to love Busch, but due to this, and also to the fact that nothing much has changed in revent years (not in major ways like the other parks) we won't be going again.

IOA an Universal are both great, and even though the kiddies might luck out on a couple of the bigger rollercoasters, there is still loads to do there, Nickelodeon, Spiderman, Cat in the Hat etc.

Love,
Gill xx

We have 2x 7 yr olds and having observed them at other theme parks consider that Disney and Seaworld is enough over 2 weeks. We can always go back. However it does depend upon your circumstances.

We all absolutely love Us and Ioa :) but if you were to ask between un/ioa and Disney For your first ever visit then we would say Disney ,then come back next year and get the 14 day flex for us. ioa. bg.;)

We did IOA, US, SW & disney on our first trip. I think IOA was my favorite park - though disney wins for magic ! our boys were 6 & 8 at the time , ( The then 6yr old has just informed me that US was his favorite ! ) The kids don't have to know about the films to enjoy the rides, and both universal parks have something for all ages, if your children like water , there is a great water play area at US that mine would have been happy to spend the whole afternoon in :)

We went 2 years ago for 14 nights and we did Magic kingdom, Epcot, Animal Knigdom, MGM Studios, Blizzard Beach, Seaworld and Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure twice, also kennedy space centre, plus lazy days around the pool and belz shopping mall twice as well, so i think youll be fine.
