We are due to go to Florida 10th June (in 4 weeks and 4 days). We will have our 4 year old with us, who can be a struggle at times. We intend on keeping her in a buggy just for the simple reason that my partner (also my carer) will find it hardwork with the 2 of us (i foresee). As it will be me with the GAC, would it be a problem to ask if we could keep the buggy with us in line, just so we dont always have to access the disabilty line? Or should I just use the GAC all the time with my family? I just want things to run smoothly and so any issues that crop up i thought this place would be the best place?
Thanks and even if you cant answer my question i will understand because it is quite a difficult one and perhaps a rare one.
It is hard for me to make you see how it would benefit me more if we could just have that chance of taking the buggy in the queues. Maybe some will see my point hopefully.

i dont think it would be a problem, as im sure you have read, disney go out of their way to accomodate families with special needs, even though its you with the GAC i just cant see them having a problem. But also, dont be afraid or guilty of using your GAC all the time, you have a genuine need for it and a ganuine reason gor using it so make the most of it and have the best time you possibly can, it will hopefully be a magical experience for your whol;e family!!!!

Hey Eve,
Thanks for those words, they really did help to put things into perspective for me :) You are right, in what you say and I dont see it being a problem if Disney are so willing to help like people say they are.
Also, I am travelling with TCD exactly a week before you I can see that, I wonder if you are the same, also from Mancehster?

we go from gatwick on virgin, im so excited!! Dbf is starting to get a little anxious about it all, he has slight ASD behaviours which make him anxious out of routine and when in crowds and the heat but am tring to reassure him it will all be fine, they are all so great over there, its really a refreshing experience!!

Are you considering using GAC for your bf then?

possibly, he is not registered disabled but if it proves too much, we will go to guest servises and explain his needs and see what they can do. To be honest we are going for and early start approach, fast passes, mid day nap at hotel and then back for evenings. this will be easy for us as we are staying on site. Im leaving to him to decide our pace and scedual for the days, that way he feels in control and wont feel as though he is letting anyone down.

Please excuse my ignorance but what is GAC?

nix75uk GAC= Guest Assistance Card, an aid that Disney provides for guests with special needs to help them access rides and arttractions, there is a sticky at the top of the special needs forum which explains a bit more about it.
cuteone, rare as it may seem there, has probably been someone with the same request before and I'm sure Disney will have a way to handle it. When you go to get the GAC just explain exactly what help you need (including about the buggy) and I'm sure they will be able to help. There is a stamp for the GAC which lets you keep a stroller with you, like you would a wheelchair, right up to boarding rides. I hope I've understood what you mean.

Many thanks. None of our party this time have any special needs (unless you count my dad being mad as a hatter, but then he justs fits in in Disney )but its nice to know it's there if needed.
Cuteone, I don't think you'll be able to take an ordinary stroller into the queues without making some sort of prior arrangement.
Does your DD need a GAC (Guest assistance card) or is it just for you?
Probably the best thing would be to email Disney and ask them what they can do for you.
Forgive me if I have this wrong, but from an earlier thread I think you have ADHD or Aspergers, so I'm sure it would be best to get this sorted out with Disney as early as possible so that you know exactly what's going on before you get there.
Good luck!
Edited to say - posted this before I'd seen Loadsapixiedust's reply!
I do know you can get a GAC which allows you to use a stroller as a wheelchair - I am not sure if you will be able to get one if your DD doesn't have any special needs, but it can't hurt to ask. Without the GAC then you won't be able to take it into lines - we travelled with a small baby and even if she was fast asleep we weren't allowed into shows or lines with the stroller - they have to be quite strict about this as a majority of families are travelling with strollers so it would get out of hand, BUT, if you can request the GAC then then will be more than happy to help.
