I'm not sure if this will be of interest to anyone but I read this yesterday in our local children's disabilities newsletter:
As from December 2005 means testing for children with disabilities was abolished and incomes and savings will no longer be considered when calculating the level of grant awarded. This decision was taken by the government and will make it easier for families to apply for the grant.

This would have really helped my friend a few years back when they had to pay for a downstairs bedroom and bathroom to be built for their disabled DD

The article also said: You should also be aware that the waiting lists for an OT assessment to apply for the grant may well increase due to the number of possible applications being made It's bad enough now trying to get an appointment with an OT!

If anyone wants me to photocopy the article I'll gladly post it to them

:( Sadly the change doesn't apply in Scotland, but this will help a lot of families, local authorities should have foreseen the need for more OT assessments as a result :confused2
