Trying for about the 5th time to attempt my first itinery but getting stuck already.

Am reading through itineries already posted but it is difficult to compare my requirements when I am unsure of childrens ages. What is good for a 15 year is not so good for a 6 year old.

Please help:(

P.S mine are 2 and 6

We took our 2 DS (3 &4) and when we planned our itinerary we made sure we didn't try to do too much because the boys were so young. Towards the end of the holiday they surprised us with all they wanted to do.

To be honest, mine do have a lot of energy so I wasn't thinking of too many rest days. It's just the sleep I think - as long as they get plenty of sleep they should be fine.

I JUST DON'T KNOW :confused2

I'd just concentrate on WDW, assuming you haven't already bought any other tickets, but think the majority of people will disagree with me.

I would definitely considering hiring/buying a double buggy (I know your 6 year old probably wouldnt be seen dead in one here  ) but it will mean you can cover more ground and your wee ones wont get so tired (and grumpy)

Get a double buggy and take a change of clothes/swimming costume for the little uns to play in the many wet play areas - will keep them amused (and cool) for hours :D

My two girls are very different and at that age (2 thru 8!!) my oldest loved Fantasyland & Buzz Lightyear (MK), Seaworld & the trams from the carpark!
My 5 year old loved Splash, Space & Thunder Mountain, Journey to Atlantis, Back to The Future, Jimmy Neutron, Men in Black & Star Tours this year.

Hi , we're off in 3 weeks!! and can't wait. Going with friends. We're taking 2x 6 year olds and 2 x 2 year olds!! Boy and girl in each age group. We've sort of got a 2 week daily plan but it's obviously not set in stone.

I think the mummies arethe most excited in our camp!!!:pgig:

Been a few times with young children. Oct last year DD was 6 and DS 18months. So, this Oct DD will be 7 and DS 2.5

Now, all children are different but I cannot imagine DD going in a buggy last year. At 6 she was well up to doing the parks without the need of a buggy.

For what its worth, I've shown our summary itinerary below (with a few comments). This is based on our experiences last year. Three water park visits spread out (maybe be 4). Not going to TL, DD likes BB better. I think BB's kids areas are much better than TL. Couple of character meals. A couple of days with not much planned - may do crazy golf, use hotel pool and a (little) bit of shopping.

Day 1 - AK (kids will be up early first day with time difference, park closes early so good first day option)
Day 2 - Chef Mickey brekkie (8am), MK - park at valet parking at Contemporary for the day
Day 3 - Epcot (Soarin a huge hit with DD)
Day 4 - Blizzard Beach, Florida Mall or Premium Outlets LBV
Day 5 - Universal Studios (take kids swimming gear as both kids LOVE the water play area at Woody Woodpeckers Kidzone)
Day 6 - MGM, fantasmic dinner package (both kids were fine with Fantasmic)
Day 7 - IoA (Seuss Landings a big hit - water play area here good for kids especially 2 year old)
Day 8 - Blizzard Beach (not doing TL - I think BB is much better set up for young kids)
Day 9 - US/IoA
Day 10 - Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for DD, Rainforest Cafe
Day 11 - Blizzard Beach, MNSSHP
Day 12 - Dont know yet but no parks
Day 13 - MK
Day 14 - AK (character brekkie). Epcot
Day 15 - last day, not sure yet. Maybe US/IOA if kids want.

There we have it. The above also takes into consideration EMH at Disney parks (we are not staying onsite so are avoiding parks on EMH days). As I said, all kids are differnet but this will work for ours.

When we went last year my boys were 2(nearly 3) and 4.

We definately needed the buggies obviously for my 2 year old but even my 4 year old who had stopped using a buggy at home often needed a break. We also made sure we bought some of those spray fans in Walmart which were great.:thumbs-up

We did go at a very hot and busy time (six weeks holidays) but we just made sure the kids had a sleep every afternoon and if they were too tired to go out in the evening we just let them play in the pool at the villa.

My boys do have a lot of energy so i don't feel the need to allocate rest days. We make sure they have a rest everyday and we count waterparks as rest days.

We are going again this year and my youngest is turning 4 during the holiday and my eldest will be 5. I am expecting them to be pretty much the same with regards to the buggies and afternoon naps.

I wouldnt agree with only doing WDW as my boys loved IOA and in particular Seaworld. But there wasnt a park that they didnt enjoy. They still talk about Busch Gardens.

I am about to post my itinery (second attempt;) ) so keep an eye out for it.

Any other help, just ask.:wavey:

We are going in August with DS who will be 3 and a bit and DD who will be 17 months. Ours love animals so we are planning to spend time in AK, Seaworld and Busch Gardens, plus MK. We are not going to spend so long at Epcot, MGM or US and are not planning to go to IOA at all. Booked a few character meals, plus dinner with Shamu

Just posted my trippie - cheesecake and Mickey - our trip with our 5 year old son. It might give you an idea of what you can get done in a day. I'd persoanlly concentrate on disney rather than universal.

Have a great trip:wavey:

We first went when my DS was 4 and DD was 2. We had very packed days but hired a double buggy. DD dozed whenever and DS just hopped in when he wanted a rest!!! Mine really enjoyed meeting the characters and watching all the shows at that age, don't let their ages put you off! I always plan around the children, after all they won't be little for long and before we know it they won't want to be with Mum and Dad!!! At each age they enjoy different things the best, just go with the flow! and have a fun time with your kids! My DH always moaned about queueing for the 100th time to get another autograph!!
This year my 2 wil be 8 and 6, and no doubt they will enjoy different things again this year, can't wait to find out what they'll be!!!
Enjoy!!

My DD was 5 the first time we took her and we only did Disney that time! DD was full of energy and we didn't need any rest days! Staying onsite made this much easier as we would get to the parks earlier, stay till around 3 or 4pm, go back to the room for a rest or shower, then head over to Downtown Disney or The Boardwalk for an hour or two - it's amazing how quickly little girls get their second-wind when shopping for pretty things is involved!;) We were usually back in the room with DD asleep - and us not far behind - by about 9pm each night! The character meals were a great success, especially The Crystal Palace! And do be prepared to spend hours of your holiday queueing for autographs and pictures (this was a big part of our first trip and i must admit to enjoying it just as much as DD did!) Oh and watch out for the water fountains and splash play areas - once the kids get in there you'll never get them out again!

I am going this year with my 3 dd's 4yrs, 5yrs and 13yrs.

To see everything we won't to see we have something planned for each day, kids just keep going, get the buggy and if they need to sleep they will.

If you go with the flow and take it at a steady pace you will have a fab time.

Our kids aged 10 and 4 (last time we went) have tons of energy and never cease to amaze me....until we got to the Sunshine State. After a day at Discovery Cove, they fell asleep in the car at 5pm and didn't wake up until 10 the next morning :omg:

I'd keep to the Disney parks for a first time. If your 6 year old is adventurous they can go on TOT or maybe RnR coaster if tall enough:)
Be prepared to revisit favourite parks/rides throughout the holiday. The first time we went we went back to MGM 3 or 4 times, though sometimes just in the evening for the above rides.
I'd include Seaworld as an extra though if you try to cover too many parks you won't get the best out of them IMHO:)

My DS is spiderman mad so I couldn't leave out IOA, he would never forgive me :confused2.

To be honest I just can't seem to sit down and work out a plan. It's like I get a mental block. There is so much to think about... what days are the quietest, what events are going on, what character meal is best, etc, etc.

Maybe I just need to make one plan and then change it a million times.

I've already done this for August. I think we'll go with a loose plan based around ADR's and our 1 night stay at the HRH and go with the flow :confused2
