Hi Everyone,
We're going to Canada for the first time in Sept . Can anyone please tell me if there is anything we need to know about immigration (any forms to fill in) and Customs (anything we shouldn't take?)
Also any tips on facilities and car pick-up at Calgary and Vancouver airports.
Thanks a lot,
Carol:wavey:

We're off in October. Have checked with travel agent (and it is confirmed at back of travel brochure) that provided your passport has more than 6 months to run before entry, you don't need a visa, though you probably have to fill in a Visa waiver (as in USA) and customs declaration forms before landing. These will be handed out on plane.

As with all countries no livestock or food are allowed. Obviously you can make allowances for duty free and chocolate etc. but no meats, fruit or veg.

Depending on where you go and what you want to do, there are different shuttle buses and taxi ranks at the airport. Check with your local hotel or travel agent for finer details.

we went to canada ski-ing last christmas and landed at Calgary, we filled in a visa waiver as with USA i think on the plane, everything was quite straightforward in regards to immigration, just like USA really.

We had booked a ski package through ingams so had a bus transfer from the airport, but taxi rank was also just outside the airport, it is quite a distance into calgary city from the airport

there is a greyhound bus service I think and the other big bus company was called Brewsters, which seemed to run the same routes but were cheaper??

Hi firstly enjoy your holiday in Canada.

I have travelled to Canada quite alot as my best friend lives in Toronto and I visit as much as I can. As long as you have a minimum of 6 months left on your passport you will be Ok plus you will need to fill out immigration forms on the plane. The airline will provide these for you on the flight.

Hope this helps

We go each September! You don't need to get a visa, but fill out the waiver form the airline provides. Vancouver airport is lovely. Never had any hassle collecting our bags or going through immigartion and customs. To collect your hire car you need to go out of the main terminal and cross the road to the carpark, which is where the hire car companies live. Have a look at the old totem poles outside! There are also plenty of restaurants and snack places, and quite a good duty free there. I am sure you will love Canada,
xx
