To all you good people who do itineraries,do you 1. stick to them 2.be a little flexible as they are only a guide,or 3.does the plan go out the window as soon as you arrive?

Hi we use it as a guide, more than a plan obviously its a holiday and weather etc will affect our planned day, also as the holiday goes on people tire so it may need to be chopped and changed as required, what I really use my plan for is budgeting moneywise and being aware of events happening while we are on holiday:smile:

Hi, we have learnt to be flexible. The weather can have an impact as can the number of guests at the parks. If we find the parks filling up too much we give up and either try a different park or hit the hotel pool. We use our itinerary as a list of must do's and stick to it as much as poss.

I agree with the others that they are used as a guide, however, we generally stick to the dining plans especially when they have been made with an ADR.

We use it as a guide only, we change it according to the mood of the day and the weather. This year though we are going at Xmas and doing the Dining Plan so will have to ADR a lot, going to be a feat of planning (for me:confused2 ) to do an itinerary to match up with EMH and where we are planning to eat!!

This year was first time at planning one. Normally we are a, get out of bed and what do you want to do today kinda ppl. Also its nice to ask the kids what they fancy doing.

I made one this year because id ran out of things to find out about, secrets i didnt know about etc. I always do ADR's or PS as it used to be called ! I also have made mine to suit around EMH's as i will use these to my benefit. Get in, do what i want and get out before park too busy as it tends to be on these days.

Will take mine with me this year for that purpose but will still decide the night before or when we wake up.

Its a holiday ppl, so enjoy

If we go with others we do a plan and amend it according to weather etc.

If just us and two DD's we tend to see what they want to do ( which if we let them would be water parks and horseriding most of the time)

We going to take them to BG this time as it must be about 5 or 6 years since they have been there.

We do tend to stick pretty much to our plans, especially as they tend to be made to specifically include special events or things which are booked in advance and need to be accommodated at a certain time. We have had to change things a bit on past trips due to weather or people feeling unwell, but the info we gathered when planning the itinerary helps us to reschedule anything we miss. My family think I'm mad with all the planning I do, but I like to think having an itinerary helps us to make the most of our time and not miss out on anything important. Having ADRs saves a lot of time waiting in line to eat.

Our final plan evolves out of months of excitement, reading things here and elsewhere, past experiences, etc.

Most days' plans are very sketchy ("AK for Extra Magic Hour; chill middle; go to DTD and PI") but some get detailed if there are specific shows we want to see (like at MGM). We book ADRs around our plans, and work our actual days around the ADRs we have (though we will happily ditch an ADR if it becomes inconvenient).

But, when it comes to it, we do what we like. The plan usually grows out of the things that would influence our choices anyway (like EMH mornings and evenings, giving ourselves more than one chance to see the firework shows etc) so we tend to end up pretty much sticking to it, some would say "by accident". I like to think "by design" ;) The best plan doesn't impede your fun, it makes sure you are in the right places for the fun at the times it happens.

But my plans are mostly so vague that we can divert easily. So, we plan to be at MK. We won't plan what we want to do there. We will think about all the things we hope to get done when making our plans and, the night before, we might decide to try to do this, this and this. But that all changes on the hoof (especially with kids in tow).

Only a fool sticks rigidly to a plan in the face of uncertainty and changing circumstances. ;)
