We return here every year, we loved it so much we bought Dvc points for it also. This is the most relaxed Disney resort you will find, the beach is footsteps from your accommodation and the pool is a large Mickey Head shape. It has 2 restaurants on the property and the Green room Bar is upstairs where Bernie plays his guitar for you on certain nights. You can snack in the Green room also. They have a lovely balcony outside the bar area to watch the sunset on.
They have a big lake where you can fish 5 mins walk and tennis courts, archery, bikes, mini golf, a full service Spa is there now also, in it's 2nd year.
There is a nice snack area next to the pool where they sell the usual Disney Quick service stuff.
The hotel has a lovely 50s beach feel to it and is in muted beige and cream colours. They have great campfires for the kids and adults where they can make smores.
There is a kids club which starts at 5pm till 8pm and the kids get a meal during this time, and the adults can enjoy Vero Beach alone for a few hours.
They have a grocery shop and the Vero Beach village is 15 mins in a car where you will find a quaint stuck in time slight feel. This adds to the charm trust me.
You can bike down as it's a straight safe road also, there is major shops over the Wabasso bridge 2 mins from resort.
The Resort is on a Barrier island off the main Vero Beach city limit but as I said only 10 mins over the Bridge. Off the island has cvs, walgreens, walmarts etc about 20 mins away.
This is the most beautiful easy going resort and the pool Discos are great every Sat and Sun (say hi to Brian the DJ), yourvfamily will love it, if you can tear them away from DW. 
Ps it's 1 and a half hours from DW straight down the Turnpike.

I love this resort. The lobby is large and spacious with lovely rocking chairs and is kind of grand looking. There are also rocking chairs outside where you can hear the ocean.
We stayed in a two bed and this was large, with plenty of room and was very nicely designed and well kept. The bedrooms and bathrooms were a great size.
The pool area is really nice and the slide is lots of fun. There were plenty of sun loungers and lots of shaded areas. There was plenty to do for little ones and the water play area was really well maintained and fun.
The beach was lovely and the waves that were crashing were awesome to watch and loud!
We had dinner and breakfast in Shutters and both meals were delicious.
The whole resort was stunning to walk around and the 'beach cottages' looked very smart.
The only downside is that it seems a bit isolated from outside restaurants, etc. but maybe we didn't venture in the right direction!
I would love to stay here again one day. |

We love Disney's Vero Beach Resort - it really feels like home.
The setting, right by the beach is fantastic - we had an ocean view and the waves pounded onto the beach just outside our balcony. The room was really pretty and we thought much larger than the WDW DVC rooms (we had an Inn Room). The rooms were dressed in muted colours, which felt very beachy and relaxing. The lobby is welcoming and again, muted in colour with a concierge and shop selling some snacks, clothes, bathing bits and pieces and Disney merchandise. DVC members can also rent DVD's here free of charge.
The setting of the hotel means a car is essential to explore the area and to eat off site, as there really aren't any other places nearby. The onsite places (Sonya's and Shutter's) are nice - we had a Pirate Party meal one evening in Shutters, which the children adored. Plenty of character interaction and lots of food served family style. Ask when you check in, if they are hosting it whilst you are there.
After visiting the parks first, I felt it took a full day to start to unwind in this charming resort - the sunsets are pretty, the beach amazing, (the waters are very rough though!) and the lifestyle around here quite laid back. I was a bit disappointed with the swimming pool on a Saturday - it was a bit Butlins-like (no offence to Butlins) but the music was loud and teenagers were dancing all over the place, pushing each other in the pool and being quite erotic! After 4pm it quitened down - not very 'Disney' I thought - but that could be just me! The CM's are friendly and helpful - we loved the fact we had a certificate waiting in our room to celebrate our wedding anniversary one day! Towels are available for the pool area and the beach. Ebb and Flo is a rental area for golf clubs (mini golf), rackets for the tennis and bikes, etc. We booked the children into the 'Unbirthday party' which was free and lasted two hours. They got some cookies, jiuce and party games, with a goody bag and it was no-ones party! They loved it!
We cannot wait to go back - DH wants to take a metal detector and scour the beaches next time. Make sure you take in some information about the treasure that is found along these shores - there are some amazing stories and you never know your luck! |

As a family you cannot go wrong here..lots to do at the hotel and around the area. The pool is presented to the Disney standard and the beach was simple stunning..We stayed here at the start of our 3 week vacation last year and as we were awake a 05:00 in the morning we managed to see some wonderful sunrises.
Food on sight is good if a little over priced ..we found a great place to have breakfast called "Boppy's Beach market" just down from the hotel, they also do lunch and dinner.
Travel time is about 1hr 30 mins from Orlando (approx)
Would we stay here again? - In a heart beat! |

We love Vero Beach and a trip to Florida wouldn't be the same without a stay here. The hotel sits right on the beach which is rarely crowded (even when the hotel is full) We tended to divide our time between the pool and the ocean and it's just a quick walk to get from one to the other.
There are various pool activities and games organized for the kids plus you can play shuffle board, table tennis or mini golf (for a small charge) There are also a number of watercraft you can rent on the beach as well as some loungers and an umbrella.
The rooms are either in the main building and are divided into ocean view or garden view, and as it's a DVC resort there are also studios, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom units plus 3 bedroom beach cottages surrounding the main Inn. We personally prefer the Inn rooms but that's just a matter of choice.
Parking is underground which is a godsend in the Florida summer as your car stays nice a cool. Vero is the sort of place you'd head to if you want a total break from the parks and I can guarantee that if you do, you'll come back totally relaxed. |

This hotel is one of my favourites and I have stayed there many times over the last 11 years, always in an ocean view inn room apart from this latest stay.
The OVIRs are wonderful. The ocean is very close at VBR and to sit on the balcony - or even lie on the bed - listening to the pounding waves is fabulous.
This time we also experienced (for one night only!) a studio which had a queen bed and a sofa bed. We had an ocean view from the balcony but we were further away than you are in the inn (main hotel) and it was a totally different experience. We did not care for the room and so paid $30 to move back into the inn the next day. This was, for me, the best $30 I spent during the whole holiday.
The restaurant had a new chef and we ate at Shutters twice. The first time we had 'proper' meals - one New York strip steak and one half chicken. They were pleasant enough but hardly memorable and not cheap, although I did have a DDE card which gave me 20% off the bill. The next time we had a wholemeal flatbread each and they were excellent. They are a bit like a pizza.
There is WiFi in the lobby and The Green Cabin Room (lounge bar with entertainment most nights and open balcony overlooking ocean.
A lovely resort and the activities listed in the previous review are all still available. |

A Disney resort away from Disney! How does that work?
Very well is the answer. It has a different feel from the resorts in Disney World obviously, but its a fantastically finished hotel. The staff are local to the area and are not over Disney'ed but the service is excellent.
This is a great place to go to have a bit of a rest from the hustle and bustle of Orlando. Its on the less built up east coast and in a great spot called Orchid Island about 6 miles north of Vero Beach itself.
We've stayed here several times and thouroughly enjoyed every visit. My only slight criticism would be that the restaurants are nice but quite expensive when compared to others locally. Disney have recognised this and there is a big book in reception of menu's from lots of local places for you to try.(Wouldn't it be easier to reduce the prices?)
There are great facilities for all ages of kids, craft clubs, canoeing, fishing, pool games, soccer, mini-golf, tennis, basketball, croquet(!) as well as guided turtle walks on the beach (they nest here) and finally storytelling and a singalong around the campfire, toasting marshmellows.
If you want to add on a little bit of a break to a Disney holiday then this is ideal. |
