 St Petes Beach is one of Florida’s hidden gems and gives you an idyllic opportunity to wind down or take a break from the Orlando theme parks. It’s about 1.30hrs drive from Orlando.

Whilst there are upwards of only 15 hotels that are facing the Gulf coast, there are very few (most likely 2 or 3 that are not high rise franchised operations).

The Plaza Beach Resort in St Petes Beach is a family owned motel that will provide homely charm and personality.

The motel that has two sister motels across the road (you can use their gym and fishing pier) is arguably finer than the larger hotels that we have stayed in within this resort.

There are just 4 direct Gulf facing rooms (there are others that have side view) and we were fortunate to secure the upper level one for a few nights for $99 p/n.

The motel is situated on the beach – you will not get closer! The sunrise and especially sunset views are AMAZING!

The motel has a heated pool, sun loungers, free private cabanas on the beach, sea chairs and body surf boards.

Housekeeping is daily.

The room is almost like an apartment, benefiting from microwave, hob, fridge freezer, kettle, toaster, dining table and chairs.

There are 3 computers with free internet in reception and a further 2 in another room that has free coffee, free table football and a library of books to choose from…and, as if that wasn’t enough – there’s a parrot to talk to!

Across the road from the Plaza beach is a Publix supermarket and Dollar store together with other shops. There are several eating places too.

The staff at the Plaza cannot do enough to help – they were fantastic.

We have previously stayed at Tradewinds and other big hotels in St Petes but would have no hesitation in returning to the Plaza Beach Resort.
