Wheelchair transfers with Thomsons
Hiya, we usually fly Virgin into MCO so can access Disney's magical express which has great wheelchair access for our oldest DS. This year we are flying Thomsons into Sanford and have booked transfers to POR. Can anyone tell me what form the transfers will take and what sort of access for wheelchair users they will have.
TIA xx |
We've never used transfers from Sanford but I know Mears operate transfers from there and they have accessible minivans so it may be one of those although I can't recall ever seeing an accessible transfer vehicle at Sanford. I would double check with Thomson that they have a suitable transfer booked for you.

lorraine we have used thomsons now for the last 3 years and tbh you have to keep on at them, information doesnt seem to get passed over to the relevent parties so I would phone and phone again couple of days prior to your leave.
it is my friend who books (she works for a travel company) us and she phoned yesterday so frustrated to tell me , here we go again! she was told they dont do medical this and medical that, only do cruilling harnesses for children. all totally wrong but it is getting the right person :confused2:( who is your tranfer is with from the airport |

I gave them a call a few weeks ago to make sure they'd got all the medical info etc they needed and they had got that in a bit of a muddle too. They told me they'd got him oxygen booked and when I said well why because he doesn't need it they said oh well we'll cancel it then... then she said she couldn't find a form so they probably hadn't booked oxygen afterall even though it was requested on the computer :confused2:confused2 she'd confused me about what I was asking for when she'd finished! Silly me though for some reason I never thought to ask about the transfers :( I'll try and contact them again to make sure... got this horrible feeling we going to be miles away from everything in resort too when we get there :( Starting to get really stressed about it all. Oh well i'll be fine when we get there  Thanks again xxx:wavey: |
could you not contact POR direct and get the right location for your needs

Would they need some sort of booking reference for us though? I wasn't sure I could get through to them directly :confused2 Gosh I'm dippy at times :o::o: |
you probably would need your booking reference but if you phoned them and explained the situation and told them you were worried the information wasnt getting passed on etc and explained your needs I am sure they would note it for you.

Any guest can fax directly to the resort a few days before arrival with room requests as by this time the reservation will have been passed to them for room assignment. If you haven't got your reservation number then they can probably find you in the system from your name and arrival date.
If you have reserved an accessible room then Thomson should have asked Special Needs to block this for you when you booked so I would double check with them and ask them to include any requests for a particular location. When you check in the CM will show you on the resort map where your room is located . If you're not happy ask to be allocated somewhere else. They will usually do all they can to accommodate you. |
Thanks guys...suppose that's where a problem might occur as my SIL has also got a room booked at POR arriving on same day with same surname! :omg:
Thanks Loadsapixiedust...I will try and fax them... I think I should get the number off Andre's site is that right? Thanks guys xxx |
