Pre existing medical condition
Hi. I have Travel insurance through my bank. I think it's with AIG. In 2005 I was diagnosed with SVT (fast heartbeat, palpitations) and in 2007 had an ablation. Since then, I have not had any episodes of SVT and the ablation has worked. I do not go for any check ups nor am I on any medication. Would this be classed as a pre existing medical condition? Will I need to take extra insurance cover for myself? I have already been to Orlando in 2010 and just had normal insurance cover :)

Sounds to me like a previous condition, not existing but I would give them a ring and get them to make a note - think they will still cover it anyway on normal policy. My DH had high Bp & cholestral (managed by tablets & stable) not charging any extra for us thats with Barclays bank.

Thank you. I will phone the insurance company :)

Call the insurer and have it noted on the policy they may or may not agree to cover it and they may charge an extra premium to do so but if you were to fall ill and make a claim and the insurer found a medical condition you knew about but hadn't declared they could use this to void the policy and refuse to pay a claim.

I will give them a call. I do not want to take any risks and would rather pay the extra. Thank you loadsapixiedust :)

I have heart arythmmia and have also had an ablation which didn't entirely work. We pay a small premium on top of our Barclays Premier Account Insurance.

Agree with all the above, tell the insurance comapny because if, heaven forbid something happens, they will do everything to avoid paying. Where I work we hear real horror stories about things like this.

Agree with all the above as some insurance companies will try anything to get out of paying, especially if the bill is quite a big one.
DH had kidney stones which had all gone and he was discharged from the consultant but i still rang the insurance company and got them to note we had informed them Didnt charge any extra, that was with the nat west but always better to be safe than sorry |
