A cherished tradition of leisure and refinement makes a comeback when you sit down for afternoon tea at the Grand View Lounge. Tea cakes and other delicate and delectable treats accompany a wide selection of teas from around the globe. Treat yourself to a rare occasion and an unforgettable afternoon.

My Disney Girl's Perfectly Princess Tea Party

The Garden View Tea Lounge hosts My Disney Girl's Perfectly Princess Tea Party, a fantasy-come-true with exciting gifts for your special princess (or prince). Princess Aurora may even join the fun at this enchanting party.

Girls 3 to11 years old are encouraged to attend dressed as their favorite Disney Princess, and a parent will need to accompany the young Royal. Your hostess, an enchanted rose called Rose Petal or one of her magical friends, will entertain the princesses with storytelling and songs. As they sip tea (which magically tastes like juice), the girls will receive the royal treatment and perhaps a special visit from Princess Aurora or another regal guest.

Each princess receives a selection of gifts as a keepsake of her storybook morning:

A special 18-inch My Disney Girl doll dressed in a matching Princess Aurora gown plus accessories
Her own ribbon tiara, silver Princess link bracelet, fresh rose, special princess scrapbook page and a "Best Friend" certificate
Young princes (should a boy's presence by required by the royal court) will receive a princely crown and plush Disney Bear.

I've lost count of how many times I've eaten here since 2002, usually because I like to take tea with my eager American friends. It doesn't compare with London hotel teas but they give it a good go and I still enjoy the experience and this time I had the Grand Tea with the Garden View Blend. They've updated the sandwich flavours which I like the watercress is now watercress and boursin mix. Chick and almond is now chick curry (coronation chicken) and the shrimp is now an open salmon with the usual egg and the scrummy pear and gorgonzola plus the onion tart. Followed by scone and jam and cream and then of course there is the choice of trifle or pastries. I always struggle to choose between the trifle and pastries this time I picked the trifle.

All washed down with a glass of bubbly.

This is a bit like tea at the Ritz, really lovely and a real treat. Not a huge tea, just a couple of triangle sandwiches, 1 scone and 2 small cakes or strawberries and cream, I think our was the Buckingham Palace tea. My 13 year old didn't like anything on the menu so had the children's tea, we asked for just jam sandwiches and choc. milk, which also came up in her own little tea pot. View was obscured at the time we went with a big construction lorry, as painting being done outide, but we didn't care (It all has to be kept up to scratch and, we would soon be moaning if it fell below par.)
All in all a great afternoon and I would def. rec. to anyone. Nice to have a look round hotel as well if you are not lucky enough to be staying there. Piano playing in the foyer very nice. No characters now though and we didn't get a rose as some other dibbers said they did.

We decided to book the afternoon tea here
for my Mum's penpal with it being her birthday.

Everybody loved it, the majority of us had the
grand tea which we throughly enjoyed.
Even the pear & gorgonzola sandwich went
down well.

At the end we were each presented with a
pink rose and the birthday girl a tiara.

I will definately be doing this again.

We decided to give afternoon tea atry as e were celebrating our wedding anniversary and had no children with us. We were checked in on time and shown to our seats then our server appeared (the human version of Mrs. Potts!) Napkins were shaken on to our laps and the service remained high class and discreet. We opted for the Buckingham Palace tea which was delicious. We were not hurried at all and when we finished I was presented with a red rose (we had our HAbadges on). We will def go again but it's not a place I would take young children to although the menu caters for them.
