Hi

can you request a change to your booking at check in (subject to availability obviously), eg I have a preferred room at BWV, can I ask them to check for a BW View at check in? I am not expecting much luck even if this is possible, but I thought I would ask!

Secondly, I have a 2 bed villa booked at AKL - I understand now that dedicated rooms have 2 double beds, and lock offs will have a double bed and a sofa bed. My reservation online just says 2 bed villa, so how do I know which I will have, or is it just luck when you check in?

Generally you can not upgrade at check in when staying at points - if you want to try the best bet is to call MS daily in the week before which is when waitlists are no longer allowed. Also the resorts have a reputation of messing up your points totals which then takes time to sort out.

If it is a lock off it will say so on your reservation.

Thanks Elise, but the preferred points is the same as Boardwalk view, so would this cause problems?

My AKL doesn't say lock off so I will assume its a dedicated- thanks for clarifying

PS- I haven't requested any particular area for either location, should I do so, or is it like most things Disney in that I won't be disappointed anyway?

sorry cant help re change the preferred view etc but just wanted to say our reservation for SSR does say dedicated 2 bedroom villa. (we requested a dedicated) I thought if you didnt ask for a specfic 2 bedroom you got a lock-off

It may do as although it is the same points they have to cancel one to make the other and sometimes they do things like borrow points and you end up with holding points instead.

We had a forced change at BLT last year and it took 3 days to get the points straightened out!

At BWV we looked over the quiet pool and that was nice. Personally I don't worry to make room requests now - I figure everyone had to get a share of the good/bad rooms and over the next 40+ years I am sure it will even itself out.

I might just leave things as they are then rather than mess about with the bookings. TBH we are so excited about being there that it won't matter where we are, I am sure.

Whilst it would be nice to have a 2 bed with 2 beds in the second room, its not the end of the world if its a sofa bed. I hear they are quite comfy. I will just let the 'kids' sort it out amongst themselves who has what!

Ali is correct, if you would like a dedicated you would need to ring MS and see if there are any available.

I wouldn't risk trying to change categories just in case you get your points mixed up. Why don't you go on a WaitList for a Boardwalk view?

Re the dedicated it wasn't that important, just curious as to what I would get. The 'kids' are 19 and 16 so I think they will manage just fine, even if it is a sofa bed! I have just looked at both reservations again (why don't they put them on one reservation statement it would make it a lot easier!) and at AKL we seem to have a 2 bed villa, and the BWV says 2 bed lock off which suggests one will have a sofa bed. I guess it means we get the experience of trying both to see whether we have a preference!

Re the Boardwalk view, yes I guess we could do that. I will make a call later on today to MS

. If it comes through then it will be a nice bonus, but if it doesn't it won't matter.

After a quick call to MS, I am now waitlisted for a boardwalk view for my second week, so will have to wait and see how that pans out.

How does waitlisting work does anyone know? If everyone is on a wait list, do the people at the top get priority no matter how many days they request or do they try and match wait lists depending upon what becomes available, AS it becomes available. I don't think that is very clear, I know what I mean but I can't explain it very well!

The people at the top get priority however it also depends on there being a match.

For example you had 4 people on the waitlist for the same week but

Wants Mon-Thurs
Wants Mon-Sun
Wants Tues-Sat
Wants Sat & Sun

Someone cancels a 7 night stay Mon-Sun. Person 1 gets their waitlist, they are top for the nights and so does person 4 because although there are people above them waiting for the same nights they have additional nights on the request that can not be matched due to them going to number 1.
