The Golden + Silver State Mega-trip! Sept 2014 [Day 12]
Sunday 7th September 2014
Unsurprisingly we didn't wake up today until 12. Today was the day the boys wanted to go to a gun shooting range. I wasn't planning on shooting but would go along to take some pics. The rest of the boys walked along to our hotel and we met then in the casino. More gambling and Callum in his hungover state already lost $200 We then got 2x taxis from the Palazzo to Battlefield. Or taxi driver was from Ireland and was talking all about the independence referendum in Scotland with us. Only ost $10 to get there and we paid $5 for Rob and I. Waited for the other taxi to arrive and went inside. They booked the package at $212 each then they bought a tin target board to shoot at then take away. We all got given earplugs and ear muffs and glasses to put on - the spectators did too. The people doing the actual shooting section were very serious (I know they need to be!). Possibly ex military some of them. Whalley and callum went first the noise off one of the guns was deafening! You actually jumped when it went off. The shotgun had a real kickback to it and you could see them move backwards after they pulled the trigger. Rob and Stuart went next. And then 1 hour later it was all over. They seemed to enjoy it apart from Callum who said it hurt too much and he burnt his fingers on the hot barrel. We got the free battlefield bus to the Stratosphere but the weather was grim, with lightening and flash flood warnings so the rides were all closed up the tower and it was $20 just for the tower which no-one fancied paying. The diner roxys had a power cut and when a couple of the boys tried to play on the blackjack table they got told their I'd had to be checked with security before they could play as they were foreigners. So they never bothered and decided to leave. Didn't like the Strat at all of the area it was in! We walked down towards the strip area and it was a really seedy, horrible part ended up going into Hilton and getting taxis back. Me and rob went to The Palazzo and went to the Grand Lux Cafe for breakfast/lunch/dinner at 4:30. Ordered off lunch menu - pasta carbonara and a salad and a coke and Rob lunch enchiladas and a hot choc. My salad was really good and rob enjoyed the enchiladas just said there wasn't enough of them. I had way to much pasta and it was just soso. ($45) We headed up to room and I fell asleep for a few hours! Woke up at 7:30 and had a shower ready to go out and see the Bellagio fountains and then go on the high roller wheel. Walked along to the Bellagio. It had been cloudy and over cast today so hadn't been as hot so walking along wasn't as bad. Watched 2 shows then Rob wanted to go and find his friends at the Mirage volcano. We went but they weren't there so I went to McDonald's for tea and got kids nugget happy meal ($4.50) ate it then went to TI to seņor frogs it was so noisy in there the music was blasting! It was full of leary lads too and wasn't a nice atmosphere. We couldn't find them so quickly left and popped into Gillys to see if they were there and they were! Rob had a few drinks but I wasn't in the mood for any alcohol. They had a bikini bull ride competition and they were trying to get girls to enter - queue lots of hiding from myself! They only had 3 girls enter one who I'm sure was a staff member as I'd seen her last time serving. The competition was an interesting one... Definitely not a place for females more for males when the bikini bull ride is on! There was also an old guy dancing who came with a Zimmer frame and at one point his trousers fell right to his ankles and he couldn't get them back up! Thats him below the lad in the pink. The bull ride commenced and I only had to sit through round 1 and 2 before Rob said we could go do the high roller. Got there just after 1 and we had bought a groupon with 15% off code so got two tickets for $55 including 2 for 1 drinks and photos. Got a pod to ourselves! Woohoo. Was a good ride camera quality was a bit rubbish though. Afterwards we headed back to room and got in at 2am. Headed straight to bed! Rob - $225 Food and taxis - $75 and $55 for the wheel.
