Mr and Mrs T. Our West Coast adventure May 2016 - Wednesday, May 18 Exploring Santa Barbara
Not a bad nights sleep. Up and showered and down for breakfast with the rest of the people staying there.
Very nice breakfast. Good selection of fruit, yoghurt, toast, cereal. The usual stuff. Next was leaving the Cheshire Cat and exploring Santa Barbara. It is about 2 miles to the harbour and Stearns Wharf. There is a shuttle that runs up and down the State Street to the front but we walked, looking in the various shops and generally taking it easy. Got a few things in the Old Navy shop we went in, not bad prices either. Got to the wharf and ventured onto the pier. Quite a few restaurants around and as it was nearly lunchtime ventured into a little place called CharWest. I ordered fish and chips while Elaine ordered a fish sandwich which came with fries and salad. Both were very tasty. Back along the pier and decided to walk to the harbour where we found a place that sold ice creams! Had done enough so decided to head back to the Cheshire Cat. Trolley or walk? We walked and it was uphill as well. Took it nice and slow but by the time we got back to the room we were wrecked, so cup of tea was called for and as we had a balcony we made use of it although it did not last long as it was rather hot! The Cheshire Cat house we were staying in. They owned another house next door and a couple across the road Every evening from 5 it is wine hour plus they lay out nibbles as well. So down we went, couple of glasses of wine, a few nibbles and we had a chat about the trip so far. Eventually hunger pains took over so we walked up the road where to ate at the iHop which was just round the corner in State Street. Pretty good it was as well. Back to the room where we packed the cases ready for the next leg of our trip tomorrow – Moonstone Bay at Cambria.
