Mr and Mrs T. Our West Coast adventure May 2016 - Tuesday, May 19 Journey to Cambria

Up and down for our last breakfast. Lovely it was too. Said our goodbyes to a couple we had got friendly with who came from Orange County. Exchanged details just in case we were in California next holiday, after they offered to put us up at their beach house.

Left the Cheshire Cat and filled the car up just round the corner and soon we were on our way to Cambria.

Elaine was getting short of clothes so Target and Walmart were plugged into Britney, with the nearest ones being Santa Maria.

Eventually we came to Solvang where we found a parking space and went to explore the town.







What a lovely place, so different from your normal American town. Really liked it.

Elaine just had to have a look at this estate agents window!

Needed some lunch so went into a little place called the Little Mermaid. Lovely food and a very nice, chatty server.

This was classed as a side salad that came with Elaine's sandwiches

Next stop was Santa Maria for a bit of shopping. Got a few things we needed plus salad for tea and a couple of bottles of wine.

Soon we were on the road again and Highway One which skirted the Pacific Ocean. Lovely views made the drive such a pleasure to do.



Eventually we found our home for the next couple of nights – The White Water Inn at Moonstone Beach.

Got a very friendly welcome and were soon entering our room. Very nice it was, even had a gas fire which came in useful as it turned a bit chilly in the evenings being so close to the ocean.

Unpacked and went for a walk along the boardwalk that was situated just over the road from the inn.

Pointed out to Elaine that there was something in the tree as we walked back. Reckoned I was daft!

Wonderful views and the noise of the crashing waves convinced us we had made the right choice. It was rather windy but the sun was out and the walk soon warmed us up. After walking quite a way we turned back and returned to the room where we had salad and wine for tea!

Walked down to the front in the hope of seeing the sunset but we missed it. Will try again tomorrow.
