Highlander JR BIRTHDAY TRIP Day 17

The Crew
Highlander: Age 40 :Chief Planner and Banker(I said Banker)
DW AKA Jacquie : Age ? : Chief Cleaner and Spender
DD AKA Stephanie : Age 16 : Main mission in life to spend
DS AKA Danny : Age 13/14 : Main mission in life Joker

Thursday 5th April:Going home:
We all get up at a little after 8, get sorted I check in online using hotels internet phones, Quicksilver arrive at 9 and we are soon on our way to MCO, at MCO its pretty chaotic at Continental and it takes awhile getting luggage through and wow we are under but then again we went with 4 came back with 7 bags of luggage, once we have got rid of our luggage we head upstairs, DD gets a penguin soft toy from SW store, the queue for security is horrendous so we get in line although surprisingly it goes down quick, the security guys actually joke with me as I'm waring a Dale Jr shirt and he wants to know where I got it, once airside we get burgers from BK for breakfast, DD says their veggie burger is nice, our flight is delayed by 40 mins to Newark, I buy the kids a couple of sweets for surprises back at home, DS I get an alligator made of fudge and coconut pattys for DD.The flight to Newark is good a bigger plane a great entertainment system games etc, we arrive at Newark 30 mins late even although all in we where an hour late leaving Orlando. I had booked the president's lounge at Newark £20 each, but before booking in duty free called I got a 1,75 liter of Absolut $19 then we checked into the lounge and it was heaving but we managed to get a couple of seats, kids whiled away the hours using my PDA to surf the net, we had our fill of snacks only choc bars, fruit, cheese, crackers, crisps plus juice, and alcohol, I got my money's worth anyway about 5pm we seriously doubted we would get home today as a snow storm hit Newark but after 15 mins it subsided, according to the airport tv screens our flight was on time but according to my PDA Internet connection it was an hour late, we left the lounge at 7:10pm for our 7:50pm but when we arrived at gate it was late, burgers where bought from A & W I also bought juice, a NYPD shot glass for my collection and I got DW one of these new gel type cushions for the neck while traveling, our flight left just over an hour late the plane was not as good as the one we had to Newark from MCO just a 757 no frills, film was Casino Royale,we all did get some sleep, DD got her vegetarian meal this time though and it was better than ours a mushroom curry and rice, salad, plus strawberries, she was well pleased, we arrived in Edinburgh an hour late, and we got stopped by customs luckily though for us he only asked questions I answered all the questions and he let us go on, we called for our taxi and we where home by 9:40, unpacking well Jacquie did that, I helped though as I watched some TV and thats it till October

Final thoughts
We had a fabulous trip lots of great experiences, good eating, and great meeting new friends, Disney well to be honest I think overall not great but hopefully staff will get better, but Disney are outsourcing quite a few things now and this must have an impact on staff morale which does affect service, theres nothing in the trip that I would say I wish I had done that now, we did what we wanted when we wanted, thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings

It would be a pity if Disney let the drop in service continue - I guess ultimately they are a business and out to get our hard earned dosh.

But all in all sounds like you all had a great time.

Great read and you all had a fantastic time which all you want for your hols.

Did you find the short journey to Newark then Edinburgh less tiring the long flight to Gatwick then Abdn? I must admit the last few times we've been totally tattered by the time we get to Gatwick and the journey to Abdn (particulary if you don't get the early flight) can be fraught as tempers are short! Then the 80 minute drive from Abdn home. It's that time of year when I envy people who live near an airport.
