The Ralstons do California - Day 8

The Cast
Me (Jo) - 32
DH (Kev) - 36
DS1 (Freddie) - 7
DS2 (Tommy) - 5

28th October 2010

This is where the trip report is going to get a big vague as I stopped making notes at this point. I will continue the report with photos and as much detail as I can remember!

***************************************
We had breakfast in the room and I continued with the packing while Kev & Freddie walked down the road to the Sheraton hotel where he picked up our hire car. He drove back to the Holiday Inn and we loaded up the car.

Before leaving San Francisco we wanted to drive over the Golden Gate Bridge and get some photos.

We then set off on our drive down the coast. The first leg was about 2.5 hours

We stopped off at a Walmart near Marina where we picked up some sandwiches for lunch.

We then continued on our drive of about another 3 hours to Pismo. This second leg was horrendous! When planning this trip I had forgotten that I have a major fear of cliff edges and windy roads with sheer drops! I had also forgotten that I would be the person on the outside of the road nearest to the cliff!

It was with a big sigh of relief when we arrived at Pismo Lighthouse Suites and checked into our room.

The hotel was gorgeous and I just wished we could have spent another day here to appreciate it properly.

We had promised the boys a swim but by the time we arrived it was a sunset swim!

We then drove to Denny's for dinner. I didn't really like my meal (again probably more down to a poor choice).

After dinner we had a quick look around some of the shops at the Prime Outlets.

We went back to the hotel and put the boys to bed.

Tonight was the night that I ended up with about 1 hour sleep! The Take That tickets went on sale back home at 9am which meant I had to stay up till 2am to book them. This didn't seem such a bad idea except I didn't factor in that it would take me 4 hours to actually get the tickets so it was almost morning by the time I went to bed! I passed the time of refreshing ticket websites by chatting to friends who were at work back home on email & facebook!

I was really surprised when we did that route - I thought that we would be driving past beaches and would be able to stop for picnics wherever we wanted - not driving half way up the side of a mountain!

We stayed at the Lighthouse Suites too! Lovely hotel Amazing sunsets.

We also visited Pismo Beach and we loved it the sunsets and the vibe of the place.

We didn't do the road, we took an inland one, I just wanted to get there, we decided to take a train up the coast at a later date, but that didn't happen, but next time!

The lighthouse suites look wonderful
