California and Utah, Spring 2011 - Yosemite National Park
It was a beautiful sunny day as we headed to Yosemite National Park, but it was still spring so the weather was on the cool side. Layers were in order, but once in full sun, it got very warm.
Mariposa is about a 45 minute drive to Yosemite, well worth it as the cost of staying in the park is huge! We were lucky enough to be there at Free National Parks time - so we were able to save on park entry for here, Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park We did give a contribution in the visitors centre though. We were here in October for one day only and did the Tioga Pass route which was spectacular. It was snowy up there then, now we were lucky enough to be in the park at snow melt time, all the waterfalls were in full flow: Here is El Capitan: J and I on the way up to the Bridalveil falls, it was in such full flow, we could not get close, otherwise you needed a snorkel and flippers! Around the visitors centre, looking towards Yosemite Falls: What is says on the tin: The upper and lower Yosemite Falls, they do meet in the middle and become one fall, you can walk up to it, but we did not have enough time on the day we were there: Here is yours truly at the middle part of the falls, we had bought lunch on the way into the park and enjoyed it here: A view of the other side of Yosemite from a shuttle bus stop: Some mule deer in the park: We went into the old Indian village, which we found fascinating. This is the ceremonial longhouse which is still used today: Sorry I have no pictures of Tioga pass, will post them when I get round to doing the October trip. Next - the long drive over the Sierras and across Nevada

What lovely pictures, Yosemite has been on our list to do for many years, hopefully next year. Can't wait for more.
