Were doing Boston Next year as well ...And this is the one we are looking at ...Its not in the centre but a 20min ride into it .Might not be what your after but its what i imagine Boston to be like .

I would suggest finding a hotel in the centre of Boston. There is so much to do that you really don't want to be outside. I can't remember the name of the hotels we stayed at but there is a big choice.

I Thought this would have been better as we intent to spend 5 days there but only 2 in Boston it self ...The other days we are using it as a base to travel to Saleam , Hull, Beverley as we are from Hull & Beverley i thought it would only be right to visit them

...Then catching Amtrax to New York for another 5 days

If you want to do reasonable priced shopping you would have to look away from the Boston town. There is a fabulous shopping mall South shore shopping plaza just south of boston. There is a Filene's basement there. If you want tax free shopping head towards new hampshire.
