Our August 2012 Trip with Brangelina - Day 11 - Islands of Adventure

Day 11 was upon us, and after the fiasco that was the Wishes Dessert Party it was another good opportunity to ditch Brangelina.

To show how little of a stuff we gave at this point we haven't a clue what they did this day - all we know is we had no intention of spending any time with them at all this day. Day 12 was Lindsay's birthday which we had already arranged a meal at Hollywood Studios for so Day 11 was definitely going to be Brangelina free.

The following Monday Brangelina were going to be off to Jacksonville for something sad, and because of their bad planning earlier in the holiday and my suggestion that they stay overnight there as it would be a daft amount of driving each way they were going to be having the Mustang on Monday and Tuesday (and be out of our hair both days) so we were going to have the Mustang today (Friday) as we were gong to be having it on Sunday also when we were to visit friends in Palm Bay for the day.

We had a bit of a lie in due to the late night the night before, but we were still up and about before Brangelina surfaced. We had decided we would spend the day in Islands of Adventure as we really like that park and hadn't spent much time there on the previous visit - especially as we had not been to The Cat in the Hat area which Lindsay and Emily love.

Notice the smiles on their faces - wonder if it had anything to do with Brangelina not being there.




The Grinch was not happy that Lindsay kept her Cat in the Hat, Hat on and duly gestured to take it off.








After spending some time in Seuss Landings we made our way round the park, with a quick stop in the Jurassic Park area to try the Dino hat on again (I really should just buy this for them this year)


Then it was off to Hogwarts (none of us have ever watched or read anything Harry Potter, so pretty clueless)














And of course the Customary ButterBeer (have 2 of these glasses now that take pride of place in one of our new kitchen cupboards)

So after a quick stop in a few of the shops and due to there being no queue, a quick go on Duelling Dragons for me (took longer to negotiate the stupidly long queue area than to ride the thing) we took one last picture with the train guy.



Emily had persuaded us to buy some Harry Potter type pink fluffy thing in one of the shops - haven't a clue what it is (kindof a flattened hamster) but she loved it. We then made our way round the park some more out of the Harry Potter bit.



We did get to ride the refreshed Spiderman ride on our way round and to be honest I was a bit disappointed with it. We used to love this but they seem to have ruined one of the best bits where you drop down as the drop doesn't seem to last anywhere near as long - it was OK but guess we were underwhelmed.

Somehow we ended up near the Seuss Landings bit again before exiting the park for some refreshments.



We ended up at Nascar Sports Grille again, this time just for a drink - I was impressed with the Coors Pump they had which had actual frosty snow on it which I defaced with my name.





On our way out of Islands we had popped into one of the shops and bought Emily's Cat a mini Cat in the Hat 'Hat'




And so after a stop in a few more shops to buy a couple of things for us and presents for people we made our way out of the park.



Pretty sure we stopped somewhere for food on our way back but can't remember where, but we got back well before Brangelina so had a bit of fun in the pool.







Eventually they returned though... not sure what they had done - we didn't bother to ask but it was probably shopping and stuffing their faces.


One thing we did get this day from Bubba Gump shop was a rare ish $2 note which has not been written on which I have kept.

For some bizarre reason everyone seems to have permanent smiles etched on their faces on this particular day...wonder why ? !
