We're going on a bear hunt - Day 10

Day 10 – Monday 26th August

Following our big trip up the mountain yesterday, we opted for a simpler day today. And what a good job we did do Mount Washington yesterday as this morning we awoke to find that the clouds had rolled in – the first we’d really seen so far.
So, after a leisurely breakfast, we spent some time with the children in the playground across the road from the hotel.




With arms aching from pushing the swings, we set off into North Conway to have a browse around the shops. We also kept a keen eye out for the local crazy golf which proved to be an absolute hit with DS (note to self to add to our schedule for Florida!). We took a lot of photos of the Pirate Golf, which was very finely landscaped with two separate courses complete with waterfalls, skulls, water obstacles and pirate facts.







At the end, DS and DD received pirate hats and flags, and we just about got away before DS realised we weren’t going to be playing another game!



On the route back to the hotel we spotted a rather boring looking shop but with an interesting name – The Christmas Loft. We pulled in and on entering, were greeted with snowy path complete with talking tree and singing woodland creatures, leading us into the main emporium. This, was literally stuffed full of Christmas goodies ranging from a couple of dollars to hundreds of dollars. In the centre, it even had a Christmas street scene with lit up shops and Father Christmas flying overhead! I adore anything Christmassy so this was in fact my ideal shop and I only wish it would work in England.








We finally dragged ourselves away and, with a short stop at the Christmas Tree Shop – not quite so magical this one – and stocked up on few Halloween and Christmas decorations, as well as a bag of supersize marshmallows with huge long toasting sticks!
Then we headed back to the Inn for a swim, where DD quickly made friends with the other girl in there who had travelled with her family from New York.




Tea was sumptuous as usual and spent trying to keep DS awake long enough to join us for toasted marshmallows around the campfire.




With blankets and coaxing, he made it and were the envy of the small group of travellers who had gathered round the fire, with our massive marshmallows, which we duly shared out! A couple from Boston, with their three young children taught us the proper way to make smores... which... whilst ok, I personally think could have done with a replacement for Hersheys (I’m not a fan! ). Hot toasted marshmallows though... with the molten oozing centre... perfect and I can’t believe I’d never had these before this trip!

Another fab day x I would love all those Christmassy shops there seems tons to do in this area.

Love the golf too we have done that in Orlando when we needed a break from the parks!

Another fab day, our DS loves mini golf... Your son did look a tad tired bless him whilst toasting the marshmallows...
