Chicago Hotel

For the start of our route 66 road trip, we are staying in Chicago for 2 nights, I've been on trip advisor for the past few days looking for a hotel.
I'm getting confused as to what area that we should stay in, is it Magnificent Mile, or downtown, north side ?
If you have stayed in Chicago, what hotel did you stay in ?
I thought booking a hotel here would be easy...

I stayed at the palmar last week and it was great. Nice and central. Have previously stayed at Hilton, fine and the drake, a long way from things. There are lots very centrally and so easy to walk about. Can recommend a Segway tour.

Sorry, there is michagan avenue, north ( think posh end) and South ( more normal end) easy to walk along. This is known as he golden mile and more towards the north end. Personally I would stay mid to south end...,

We've just been to Chicago. We stayed on the Magnificent Mile, at the north end. Stayed in the Four Seasons which was amazing-we were upgraded to a suite. We loved the city.

Thanks guys, I was about to book the Hampton inn then found out it was next to a hospital, so after looking we have booked the Sheraton.
Next thing now is to work out where we are stopping on route 66 and start booking those hotels
