SeaWorld Rescue Team Passes 1,000-Animal Milestone in 2014
This month, the SeaWorld and Busch Gardens wildlife rescue teams passed a milestone, which shows why animals need SeaWorld's help now more than ever.
They have now rescued more than 1,000 wild animals this year alone, bringing the total number of animals helped over the years to 24,000. These are orphaned newborns, entangled whales, and sea lions that were injured. Among the 1,000 was one of the most unusual cases SeaWorld has seen: a pregnant shark. That shark – and hundreds of other animals this year – have been treated and returned to the wild, which is the goal for every single animal they rescue.
