( we are #1 gold club members) Thanku

PS. We only have the pink paper licenses with no photo are they OK?
You can't add additional drivers with Hertz until you are at the desk.
It means you can't go straight to the car but the queues at the dedicated #1 collection are usually OK.

Just get DH try and add you to the rental agreement by asking, it has worked OK for me and I have got DW on the paperwork for free.

Though that could be because of the CDP I use or just the persons putting it through as a spouse automatically, but nothing ventured and all that.

Thank you for contacting us regarding your Gold Membership.

I can confirm that it is not free of charge to add your wife as an Additional Driver to your rentals. This works in for our US Customers as they pay for the membership.

I hope this has been helpful to you, and we look forward to serving you soon.

Yours sincerely,
UK Customer Services Department

However, when I added DW in 2007, we were told that there was a maximum charge per rental for additional drivers. If I recollect it correctly, we paid an additional $30 for 14 days.
At least that explains why I couldn't get it confirmed either.
As I've said above I've had DW added for free, I guess it depends on how familiar the person is with all the T&Cs.

As long as she was on the rental agreement I was happy.

As I said above, that's been my experience as well.
I don't care as long as they are named on the rental agreement as they are then an authorised driver regardless.

What I wouldn't do is drive off without their name on the rental agreement, the T&Cs for a MCO booking do not mention spouse coverage, getting it free is down to the staff not knowing the rules properly for UK #1 card holders.

I wouldn't like to get into a dispute over actual authority to drive if there was an accident, hence I get the name on the rental agreement.
