I can second Virgin for the seat belt extensions. I always have to have one, much more comfortable that way and they are very good and very discrete, big thumbs up.

Ryanair's seat belts are way short (obviously it's nothing to do with my body shape and all their fault) but I have never had a problem on a transatlantic flight. In fact on BA in March there was room to spare.

hope you get fixed up with the exta belt ok but a word of warning-dont book one of the seats near the emergency exit (if available at check- in) as don't think you are allowed to sit there if you need a seat belt extension

on a recent flight to Fuerteventura, the lady in front of me had booked the front exit row with her hubby who was tall but she needed the belt extension. For take-off and landing(and during 40 mins of turbulence ) the flight attendants asked me to swap seats with her as she couldn't occupy an exit seat with said extra belt

Just flew back with Virgin last week and the two men accross the aisle from us were both Very Very big boned and the flight attendant gave them both an extension belt and were very discret about it . I am Very big boned and although sometimes its been a tight squeeze i havent had to use an extension belt. These men were V V V V big boned. So depending on how big boned you are you , you might not need an extesion belt. PM if you want to know how big boned i was.
