Yes, drop off is free but I guess the taxi companies are entitled to add whatever they like, as long as the passenger is aware of the charge beforehand.

Drop off by private car is definitely free. We have done it many times. I have also seen posts about taxis having to pay to drop off. I thought the the OP's had been conned until others confirmed it as well. I keep meaning to ask at the tollbooths because it seems so unlikely to me.
