Wink Houlihan's

Hello!

We returned to Houlihan's last night having had good experiences in the past. This time we were a group of nine, with two kids, one pregnant niece and Mums and Dads.

Unfortunately we were disappointed. Food was OK - but the service was embarrassingly bad. Our waiter, Richard, seemed more interested in the goings on in the kitchen while taking our order, which really irked me. Strike one. The food was brought quickly which was good as we were starving. But then it started: during the main course another waiter started clearing our stuff away while some of us were still eating. Grrr. Next our waiter wanted to take our dessert order when three of us still were trying to enjoy our main course. Double grrr. We really felt rushed and it didn't surprise us when the waiter produced our bill as soon as the final plates had been taken away.

Price worked out at around $30/head including drinks.

So in summary, good for cocktails/beer (there's a nice bar outside) but not so good with food, mainly because of the service. Maybe we just had a duff one, but I'd be interested to see if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Or am I just tired and grumpy?

On a lighter note, off to MK to day for Brek with Cinders. Bring on the maple syrup.

Exactly the same thing with us, we had been previously and had a fine time but on our last visit our male server was only interested in the girls on the next table. The meals were wrong and then cold, We complained and left no tip.

It is now off our list as there are plenty of other places to try. A pity really as it is very convenient for Vista del Lago.

PS. Welcome to the Dibb.

We only ever went once about a year ago and thought it was rubbish.

Real pity because it looks great from outside but thought the place lacked atmosphere, food was rubbish and not cheap, servers were far from the usual happy Americans.

Never again for us.

Went 5 years ago and it was superb.

Went a few weeks ago and the waitress brought our Mains at the same time as our starters (which she thought was fine). My wife's steak was rare despite asking for med-well (pregnant) Overall shocking.

Complained and didnt pay for any of it.

Had driven by on numerous occasions but never tried it until last April. Our experience was much the same as the OP. Very busy, very rushed, disinterested servers and overpriced for mediocre food. Won't be going back.

We went on xmas day 2007 not by choice we didn't realise there were hardly any places open and we had a horrible experience. The service was not up to standards. My DH and dads ribs were cold, they had taken a few bites out of it the server took it away for a new one and they both ended up with a half rack! In general we didn't enjoy our meal and we have not gone back since.

We used to go every visit and loved it, but last year we didn't enjoy it at all and it had gone up in price, so this year we didn't bother going at all.

Such a shame as we loved it there

We didn't like it, had a similar experience to the OP although our food took ages and then it was all rush, rush.
The food was OK but nothing special, and it was certainly not cheap so we expected both better meals & service.
It looks so nice from outside, if I ever go back it will just be for a cocktail.

Ive been on all 3 trips and never had a problem with either the standard of food or servers. Atmosphere was very pleasant and the waiting staff couldnt do enough.
I found Mannys to be the least pleasurable dining experience ive ever had.
