Dental twigs
Anyone know where I can buy these? My DS is 3.5yrs and has autism. He has a real problem with brushing his teeth, he will chew a toothbrush for a few minutes but that's it. As soon as I try to move the toothbrush in a brushing motion he starts crying and runs off.
I've tried everything I can think of, finger toothbrushes, electric toothbrushes (he won't even hold one of these as he doesn't like the vibration), reward charts etc but nothing works.

My friends son has the same issue with tooth brushing. He used to love Thomas the Tank so any Thomas brush helped a bit but it's really the sensory problems that make him had the sensation of brushing his teeth. My friend is currently using a strawberry flavoured toothpaste, as her son finds strong mint too much and a triple headed toothbrush which cuts down the time her son needs to have the brush in his mouth. He seems to tolerate the lack of strong mint and reduced brushing time.
Good luck, this issue is a difficult one to solve. |
