Mine both have TVs in their rooms (4 & 8) but not connected for anything other than DVDs. On a weekend night they get a DVD on in their rooms at bedtime and that's about the only time they are on. I have sky in my room but the only time they watch that is if I they're in when I'm cleaning floors etc downstairs, even then they usually choose to play a game or something instead. Up to parents though no real right or wrong

Second part of the question... Games console.

Thoughts please.

When they can afford to buy them themselves.

We have a tv in our bedroom and use it to watch DVD's occasionally if we got to bed early. I have 3 nephews and our friends all have children so about 15 children aged between 3-11 in our 'circle of friends' and not one of them has tv in their bedrooms.
Me and my sister were allowed tv's in our bedrooms when we went into senior school, I struggle to think of any reason why a child much younger would need their own tv in a separate room but obviously different things work for different people so each to their own

DS was 14 before he had one, I thought that was a bit young but agreed.

In my opinion there isn't a need for them to have one at all.
We've always had a second tv in another room which they've had access to.
