Question holiday Insurance

Hi
I would be really grateful for some advice as I've been over a week pondering what to do and now, in the light of what's happened this week in the news re: Bin Laden, I'm even more undecided. I've decided to take out my holiday insurance with Columbas but they offer an added extra called "Emergency Cover" which means if we were to be stranded in America for some reason when it's time to come home we would be covered for bed and breakfast and/or other travelling expenses for upto £100 per night. I've never had to book insurance separately before so when we've travelled to Florida last year and in 2007, I don't even know if this was part of the policy - probably wasn't. Anyway - you've guessed it - this added extra bumps up the price of the policy to almost double. My mum says I should get it for peace of mind. What do you think?

Thanks in advance

Do you have any travel insurance that comes with some of the Bank accounts?
The reason I was asking is that some did cover for the ash cloud and got people home ( or at least paid for the stay like you mentioned.

I agree with Minnie28! I've previously travelled with bank insurance with no problems but more recently looked into single trip cover through insureandgo.com - it explains all the different levels of cover and what's included to be on the safe side - just another option if you decide against Columbas cover.

Holiday Insurance

Thanks everyone for your replies. I have since been advised by a work colleague to contact our travel company, Kenwood, who have said that if we were to be stranded for some reason upon coming home we would be covered by EU Laws and VA who would arrange 3* accomodation and beverages. So great news - I will now book after checking Moneysupermarket for best price.
