Plane seat belt extensions for big people?

After my unsuccessful attempt for the last 6 months to lose some weight before our trip,

Has anyone (big boned like me) asked or used a seat belt extension on the plane.

Are they available?

Flying Virgin.

I would assume they have to be available on every flight. I have seen a passenger on a FC flight use one.

I seen them used on our last flight last month, almost had to ask for one myself as was a bit close, i would imagine they would need to have a few available but i would mail them just to put your mind at ease., not sure what they would do if they needed more than they had tho..

I use them all the time as i am VERY VERY VERY "big boned"

I have never had a problem. There is no need to contact them in advance - just ask as you board. Virgin do have them and they are always discreet when they hand them out.

There not bright pink with bells on then and you don't have to wear a special hat during the flight? lol

You never know I may not need one on the return flight!

Thanks everyone.

Yeah! I've not needed them on VA flights as they seem to be that bit longer but I always have to ask for one on Ryanair and it's never been a problem.

Ryanair's seat belts are way short (obviously it's nothing to do with my body shape and all their fault) but I have never had a problem on a transatlantic flight. In fact on BA in March there was room to spare.

I can second Virgin for the seat belt extensions. I always have to have one, much more comfortable that way and they are very good and very discrete, big thumbs up.
